Enhancing greenspace cooling efficiency (GCE) is a cost-effective nature-based solution to improve the urban thermal environment. The spatiotemporal patterns of GCE and their driving factors have been investigated mainly based on land surface temperature in spatial comparison perspective. However, diurnal change air (AT) its non-linear responses meteorological are far from thoroughly understood. Taking subtropical Chinese city Changsha as an example, we quantified hourly AT hottest month 2020, changes, uncovered using Generalized Additive Model. results showed that (1) displayed U-shaped temporal pattern with average 0.0128 °C%−1. nighttime (0.0134 °C%−1) was significantly higher than daytime (0.012 °C%−1). (2) Meteorological (i.e., temperature, relative humidity, wind speed) non-linearly impacted GCE. (3) changes humidity speed followed inverted pattern, maximum values appearing at 70% 6m/s, respectively. responded more complexly, i.e., negative response (<28 °C), then positive (30–35 finally (>35 °C). These findings extend our understanding variations can help effective planning management Changsha, China, other cities similar climates era rapid climate change.
