Abstract Study aim : To evaluate the relationship between body fat, lipid profile and selected hormones in context of lower higher normal thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels active male students. Material methods A total 112 students Faculty Physical Education volunteered to participate study. Body weight, height waist circumference were measured using standard medical equipment. The percentage fat was determined from sum thickness four skinfolds. Circulating lipids, TSH, glucose insulin level measured. Results Biochemical characteristics revealed that circulating cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), triacylglycerol (TG) significantly with TSH vs. levels. analysis distorted metabolic variables indicated for frequency disturbances than Additionally, this group characterized by a body. Hypothyroidism is a relatively common condition that may affect as many 10% of the population worldwide when its overt and subclinical presentations are considered. Important clinical comorbidities highly prevalent in people with hypothyroidism diminish quality life functional status manner proportional to number present their severity. This article reviews hypothyroidism, reported literature. The include conditions commonly associated such dyslipidaemia, hypertension, fatigue or (possibly) cardiovascular disease, can appear whether not intervention LT4 applied appropriately ensure biochemical euthyroidism. Other share some pathogenetic background including depression anxiety, autoimmune conditions. arise comorbidity other conditions, e.g. following application targeted cancer therapies alemtuzumab for multiple sclerosis. treatments, metformin, glucocorticoids proton pump inhibitors among others, alter levels thyrotropin, thus impacting on monitoring thyroid dysfunction diagnosis dysfunction. Ensuring good control necessary first step managing any patient hypothyroidism. Then, physicians should be aware possibility comorbid must addressed achieve an optimal outcome.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) often presents alongside physical illnesses, such as a high incidence of subclinical hypothyroidism (SHypo) in patients, highlighting the common occurrence these comorbidities. Recent research has indicated that presence comorbid SHypo individuals diagnosed with MDD may result notable alterations both brain structure and function. This study aimed was to investigate neurological mechanisms underlying this co-occurrence using data-driven approach analyze activity patterns. Twenty-nine patients without any conditions (nSHypo-MDD) were included study, along 29 who also had (SHypo-MDD), 26 only, healthy controls (HCs). Each participant received resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans underwent neuropsychological evaluations. We found significantly altered connectivity (FC) within networks (RSNs) ventral dorsal sensorimotor network (VSMN DSMN) occipital pole visual (PVN) (p < 0.05, FDR corrected). A vital interaction effect between detected PVN, showing SHypo-MDD higher FC values left cuneus than nSHypo-MDD patients. Serum-free triiodothyronine (FT3) levels demonstrated an inverse relationship right supplementary motor area (SMA.R) (r = − 0.563, p 0.003). Furthermore, are positively associated Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) scores 0.507, 0.008). Our reveals significant changes particularly VSMN, DSMN, suggesting compensatory mitigate cognitive deficits need for integrated management improve outcomes.

Background Autoimmune thyroiditis is closely associated with major depressive disorder (MDD) and suicide attempts. However, few studies have examined this relationship. Aims The study aimed to assess the prevalence correlates of attempts in patients first-episode drug-naïve (FEDN) MDD autoimmune thyroiditis. Method We recruited 1718 out-patients FEDN assessed depressive, anxiety psychotic symptoms Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, Anxiety (HRSA) Positive Negative Syndrome Subscale positive subscale, respectively. serum levels free triiodothyronine, thyroxine, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), antithyroglobulin, peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) several other metabolic parameters were assessed. Patients divided into non-autoimmune thyroiditis, only abnormal TSH groups, based on severity. Multiple logistic regression model was applied identify TSH. Results Compared group, group had a nearly fourfold higher likelihood reporting attempt, whereas no difference found between groups. HRSA score, lnTPOAb lnTSH independently Conclusions are at risk attempt. TPOAb, all population, regular checks warranted.

Objective The systematic review evaluated the association of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and specific MetS components in people major psychiatric disorders. Methods A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate SCH its conditions. Results Five studies incorporating 24,158 participants met inclusion criteria. All five comprised patients depression and/or anxiety. Three 3365 were suitable for meta-analysis. pooled Odds Ratio (OR) 3.46 (95% Confidence Interval/CI = 1.39–8.62) depressive disorder (MDD) anxiety disorders concurrent compared those without SCH. Meta-analysis showed a significant positive between high body mass index (OR 2.58, 95%CI 1.33–5.01), fasting plasma glucose 3.05, 1.79–5.18) low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol 2.30, 1.82–2.92). Conclusions These findings suggest MDD This informed clinical implications comorbid importance early diagnosis treatment patients.
