Background: Amid the large panel of autoimmune thyroid diseases, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) represents a major point across multidisciplinary daily practice. When it comes to clinical picture, particularly in regard asthenia (also described as “fatigue” or “decreased energy”), differential diagnosis is challenging, and meticulous anamnesis should be backed up by focused lab investigations. Our objective was analyze newly diagnosed patients with HT relationship presence an admission complaint. Methods: This retrospective, multi-centric, real-life study conducted secondary endocrine units (university hospitals) from July 2022 2023. The exclusion criteria were COVID-19 infection; active malignancy, etc. Results: cohort (N = 120) included group (AS, 49.2%) non-AS similar age (49.3 ± 14.7 vs. 47.1 14.8 y, p 0.426). Headache more frequent AS (35.6% 18%, 0.03). Thyroid function HT-related antibodies assays between groups show no correlation serum total cholesterol triglycerides, respectively. TSH levels did not vary among sub-groups (p 0.701). One third studied population affected hypothyroidism (TSH > 4.5 μIU/mL), being seen at higher rate (39%) (23%). Total positively correlated patients’ (r 0.180, 0.049) triglycerides 120; r 0.324, < 0.001), found only 0.246, 0.006, respectively, 0.319, 0.001). Conclusions: analysis pinpointed fact that, practice, complaint seems less indicator underlying dysfunction level against without full picture thyrotoxicosis myxoedema.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has generated profound health, societal, and economic consequences, which have been further compounded by long-term sequelae commonly referred to as post-COVID-19 or long-COVID syndrome. Understanding the real-world impact of mortality is therefore critical for effective healthcare planning resource allocation. Methods: A descriptive epidemiological study was conducted using data from US National Center Health Statistics identify deaths attributed condition, classified ICD-10 code U09.9, October 2021 December 2024. Demographic factors such gender, age, place death were also extracted. Results: By 2024, 2653 under corresponding an age-adjusted rate 0.089 × 100,000. Mortality significantly higher in males compared females (0.098 vs. 0.081 100,000; p < 0.001). clear age-related gradient observed, with rates increasing almost linearly advancing age. largest fraction occurred at home (33.0%), followed nursing homes (26.3%) medical facilities (24.1%). Conclusions: These findings highlight substantial yet complex condition on mortality, observed males, older adults, individuals home, highlighting need targeted interventions allocation, particularly these higher-risk groups.

Long COVID, where symptoms persist after recovering from COVID-19, can affect cognitive functions like language. However, little is known about its impact on children’s language skills, especially across different school levels. This study investigated the of long COVID proficiency among 1244 children (Asian; 53.5% boys) kindergartens (N = 408, Mage 4.42 ± 1.26 years), primary schools 547, 9.69 1.96 and secondary 289, 14.97 1.85 years) in Hong Kong. Language was assessed using Experience Proficiency Questionnaire (LEAP-Q), which measured speaking, listening, reading, writing both Chinese English. Participants were categorized into three groups: recovered no history COVID-19. One-way two-way ANOVAs used to analyze differences these groups Children with exhibited significantly lower overall proficiency, particularly speaking compared those no-COVID groups. The effect more pronounced students, students showing most substantial deficits. No significant found between results suggest that might have detrimental effects linguistic proficiency. development older who suffered could benefit receiving targeted educational therapeutic interventions.

Background/Objectives: Currently, there is a limited understanding of the long-term consequences following acute COVID-19, referred to as long COVID. This cross-sectional study aims analyze prevalence persistent signs and symptoms COVID, 18 months after primary SARS-CoV-2 infection in adults southern Brazil. Methods: Using two national databases (the digital registry positive cases), 370 individuals living state Paraná (Brazil) were recruited. Data collected through telephone interviews conducted 2021 2022. Results: The overall COVID was 66.2% among participants. During phase infection, most common symptom clusters included neurological (87.0%; n = 318), followed by respiratory (82.0%; 301), musculoskeletal (66.0%; 241), digestive (50.0%; 184), psychological (38.0%; 138), endocrine (28.0%; 104). In month follow-up, main memory loss (42.7%), fatigue (32.2%), anxiety (23.5%), dyspnea (19.7%), hair (19.7%). proportion participants with statistically higher females (73.9%), those family income below minimum wages (94.7%), who do not practice physical activity (83.3%), report poor sleep quality (93.3%), use medication (85.9%), needed health care previous six (87.3%), required professional and/or (79.3%), ICU (79.0%), used ventilatory support (77.5%). Conclusions: Long complex condition that requires monitoring investment services due its high population.
