Background
and
Objectives:
Spinal
muscular
atrophy
(SMA)
is
a
progressive,
autosomal
recessive,
rare
neuromuscular
disorder
caused
by
genetic
defect
in
the
SMN1
gene,
where
SMN2
gene
cannot
sufficiently
compensate.
Patients
experience
progressive
predominantly
proximal
weakness
atrophy.
Oculomotor
disorders
are
currently
not
regarded
as
typical
feature
of
SMA.
The
aim
this
study
was
to
determine
whether
oculomotor
abnormalities
present
subjects
with
SMA
assess
potential
relationship
between
parameters

duration.
Materials
Methods:

Exploring the impact of stimulus transparency in ERP-BCI under RSVP

Rapid
serial
visual
presentation
(RSVP)
is
currently
one
of
the
most
suitable
paradigms
for
implementing
a
brain–computer
interface
based
on
event-related
potentials
(ERP-BCI)
patients
with
limited
ocular
motility.
This
paradigm
presents
stimuli
centered
in
user's
field
vision,
which
may
hinder
patient
from
attending
to
other
elements
screen.
A
potential
solution
this
could
be
use
semi-transparent
stimuli,
allowing
both
stimulus
and
background
perceived.
Therefore,
objective
study
evaluate
impact
transparency
ERP-BCI
performance
under
RSVP
paradigm.
Five
participants
tested
using
three
different
transparencies
alpha
channels
set
255
(C1),
85
(C2),
28
(C3).
The
results
showed
following
average
BCI
classification
accuracies:
C1,
70%;

Objective:
Saccadic
Intrusions
(SIs)

abnormal

movements
