Abstract Background Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are frequently associated with anxiety, as this can increase the hyperactivity of masticatory muscles, resulting in TMD-related pain and symptoms. Objectives Despite the growing recognition of mental health challenges among workers, limited information regarding their self-identification common symptoms (CMSs) and perceptions causal pathways to work-related psychosocial stressors exists. This study aimed explore how workers recognise CMSs, perceive exposure stressors, conceptualise pathways, evaluate impact these on professional quality life (PQoL), employ coping strategies encounter barriers mitigating seeking support. Design settings Our employed an interpretive descriptive phenomenological approach, informed by theoretical frameworks. We conducted focus group discussions (FGDs) in-depth interviews (IDIs) with purposely selected between January February 2023. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed translated into English. Data was processed analysed using MAXQDA 2020 software, thematic findings supported illustrative participants’ quotations. Participants The included 34 who participated in 10 IDIs three FGDs. Results Five themes emerged from study, guided combined frameworks: (1) conceptualisation occupational stress, anxiety depression symptoms; (2) stressors; (3) perceived PQoL; (4) experiences strategies; (5) Accordingly, our revealed a low CMSs (SICMSs), increased perception link negative PQoL, use adaptive presence multiple effective support-seeking practices across respective themes. Conclusions this highlight need for targeted interventions, including updated training addressing resource-related improving workplace communication conflict resolution, enacting policy reforms ensure equitable compensation promoting enhance workers’ well-being PQoL. The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted mental health indicators, leading to an increase in symptoms of anxiety and depression both the general population adults children many occupational groups. This study aims examine changes among a cohort public workers U.S. during first year identify potential risk factors.Longitudinal data were collected from sub-sample (N = 85) 23 states who completed two surveys 2020 2021. Information on background characteristics, personal well-being, work environment as well validated scales assess generalized disorder (GAD), depressive disorder, burnout was collected. Data analyzed using Stata Version 17, significant differences determined Pearson's Chi2 Fisher's Exact tests.The proportion those reporting GAD (46.3% 23.2%) or (37.8% 26.8%) improved Survey 1 2 overall; saw largest improvement. Persistent associated with sustained burnout, social support, days worked per week.Public experienced elevated levels initial response, but reduction these observed subsequent after vaccines had become widely available.
