Abstract Background Postpartum depression (PPD), a prevalent social mental condition, impacts not only the mother and newborn but also several facets of their lives. It has been suggested that insomnia is related to both occurrence progression PPD. However, because lingering confounding bias, it impossible determine cause this connection using observational analysis. In study, we evaluate causal importance on postpartum Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods Utilizing summary data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS), two-sample MR study was conducted. A GWAS dataset IEU United Kingdom Biobank phenotypes comprising 462,341 people European heritage yielded 38 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for insomnia. The PPD were provided by FinnGen project comprised 7604 cases 59601 controls. Inverse variance weighting (IVW) utilized primary analysis, with weighted median MR-Egger serving as sensitivity analyses. Results As result, found genetically predicted positively associated depression. odds ratios (OR) 1.849 (95% (confidence interval) CI: 1.011–3.381; p = 0.046). Conclusion For first time, causative role sleeplessness extensively evaluated in current investigation. Our findings show are way.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent yet underdiagnosed condition in pregnancy, associated with various maternal and fetal complications. This review synthesizes the current evidence on epidemiology, pathophysiology, neurological consequences of OSA along potential management strategies. Articles were sourced from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane databases until 2023. Our comprehensive highlights that incidence increases during pregnancy due to physiological changes such as weight gain hormonal fluctuations. linked gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, adverse outcomes intrauterine growth restriction preterm birth. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy remains most effective strategy for pregnant women OSA. However, adherence CPAP often suboptimal. underscores importance early recognition, timely diagnosis, improve both outcomes. Future research should focus enhancing screening strategies improving this population.

With each passing year, the number of people suffering from mental disorders grows at a disturbing speed. Neuroactive steroids are new promising group drugs with potential for use in many diseases like postpartum depression, postnatal psychosis, major insomnia, bipolar disorder, and Parkinson’s tremor, due to their ability modulate activity GABA A receptor. Neurosteroids progesterone metabolites that synthesized cholesterol or steroid hormones various brain regions. They regulate neuronal development, regeneration, neurotransmission. implicated mood disorders, anxiety schizophrenia, PTSD, impulsive aggression. have been studied prevent treat neurodegenerative such as Alzheimer’s disease HIV-associated dementia. can promote neurogenesis, survival, myelination, memory function. also affect growth sensitivity hormone-dependent tumors gliomas. Zuranolone, newly registered neurosteroid drug has shown huge flexibility both clinical ambulatory treatment thanks its pharmacokinetic traits, especially possibility oral administration, unlike predecessor Brexanolone. Zuranolone is synthetic positive allosteric modulator GABAA receptor be taken orally. The review aims summarize current knowledge on zuranolone novel which this was meant originally. It covers studies indexed PubMed, Scopus, Web Science databases published since 2017. Keywords used search, well inclusion exclusion criteria, given methodology section. explains evidence role neurosteroids, allopregnanolone, pathophysiology depression. discusses mechanisms action, changes levels during pregnancy postpartum, trials brexanolone zuranolone, two analogs provides an overview biosynthesis metabolism neurosteroids central peripheral nervous system. Furthermore, it different sources pathways production factors influence synthesis regulation, stress, hormones, drugs, genetic variations. explores relevance other psychiatric post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Finally, highlights associations between symptom severity effects modulation mood, cognition, neuroplasticity.

Abstract Introduction Globally, sleep disturbance is the foremost public health issue among pregnant women which might have undesirable birth outcome including neurocognitive impairment, preterm birth, low weight, and neonatal morbidity mortality. In Ethiopia, inconsistent findings been reported on prevalence of women. Therefore, this review aims to estimate pooled its associated factors in Ethiopia. Methods This systematic meta-analysis observational studies was designed according PRISMA guideline. A search literature conducted PubMed, Scopus, Web science, Google Scholar using relevant searching key terms. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale used evaluate quality all selected articles. Data were analyzed STATA Version 14 software. Publication bias checked Egger’s test funnel plot. Cochran’s chi-squared I 2 values assess heterogeneity. fixed-effects model applied during meta-analysis. Results review, six included after reviewing 17,100 Ethiopia 50.43% (95%CI: 39.34–61.52). Third trimester pregnancy AOR = 4.03; 95% CI: 2.84,5.71), multigravidity (AOR 1.99; 1.54, 2.59), unplanned 2.56; 1.52,4.31), depression 3.57; 2.04, 6.27), stress 2.77; 1.57, 4.88), anxiety 3.69; 1.42, 9.59) poor hygiene 2.49; 1.56, 3.99) statistically with Conclusion revealed that magnitude woman relatively high multiple determined likelihood having a disturbed sleep-awake pattern. Thus, implementation interventions for screening needed. Moreover, targeted prevention unintended should be implemented.

Background: In the rooming-in system, mothers and their healthy newborns stay together for 24 h a day; however, many women in early postpartum period often find it challenging to balance recovery from childbirth with demands of caring newborns. This study aims investigate need entrust medical staff care, relationship this perceived pain, fatigue, anxiety. Methods: The uses Need Entrust Newborn under Care Staff (NEN) scale Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) assess participants’ levels fatigue These scales were chosen provide comprehensive assessment needs experiences. Results: results reveal that among participants significantly high, an Me 7.0 (IQR = 4.0), exceeding reportable both pain (Me 6.0, IQR 5.0) anxiety 5.0, 6.0) support during day at night was similar level strongly correlated (rho 0.723; p < 0.001). Pain showed significant positive correlation newborn 0.296; 0.001) 0.332; During daytime, rho 0.423 (p 0.001), while overnight, increased 0.485 Anxiety support, daytime 0.422; overnight 0.431; Multiparas reported lower (U(Z) −13.224, Conclusions: care maternity is strong but unmet facilities. Further research should be conducted explore solutions, plan future actions alleviate burdens on facilitate recovery.

Objective: Insomnia is a common issue that pregnant women often have to deal with. This study seeks examine the connections between pregnancy stress, depressive symptoms, family support, and insomnia symptoms. Methods: Convenience sampling was employed recruit 1049 valid participants. The primary measurement tools utilized were Pregnancy Stress Scale, Family Support Subscale, Patient Health Questionnaire-2. Data analysis conducted using SPSS 24.0 software. Using binary logistic regression verify independent effects of depression support on PROCESS macro Model 4 applied assess mediating effect, while 5 used evaluate moderating effect. Results: overall prevalence symptoms among 54% (n=572) 20% (n=207) in this study. positively affect indirect effect stress significant, with mediator proportion 45.16%. As moderator, weakens impact Conclusion: Increased increased could trigger Depressive mediated path from weakened link These findings can assist managing more effectively improving their mental well-being.
