Abstract Introduction The present study aimed to explore the suitability of vocabulary knowledge (VOC) test as an accurate and reliable proxy cognitive reserve (CR) by evaluating its psychometric properties discrimination accuracy compared with other CR measures in multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods Sixty-eight consecutive people (pwMS), followed at our MS outpatient clinic, completed a clinical evaluation neuropsychological assessment including: VOC, Brief Repeatable Battery Neuropsychological Tests (BRB-N), Cognitive Reserve Index Questionnaire (CRIq), Beck Depression Inventory-II, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Reliability, convergent divergent validity, VOC were assessed using educational level reference standard. possible effects sociodemographic factors on their role predicting global status also explored. Results demonstrated good internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.894) adequate construct validity. It showed acceptable between pwMS high low CR, comparable CRIq score. Education strongly affected scores, which turn independent features. emerged predictor together MS-related disability. Conclusion We validity measure pwMS. Thus, may be estimated fixed objective measures, brain pathology Early estimation help clinicians identify higher risk decline plan strict monitoring interventions.

Abstract Background Although apathy and impulse control disorders (ICDs) are considered to represent opposite extremes of a continuum motivated behavior (i.e., hypo- hyperdopaminergic behaviors), they may also co-occur in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Objectives We aimed explore the co-occurrence ICDs its neural correlates analyzing gray matter (GM) changes early untreated PD patients. Moreover, we investigate possible longitudinal relationship between their putative impact on cognition during first five years PD. Methods used Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) database identify 423 drug-naïve patients at baseline 5-year follow-up. Baseline MRI volumes were analyzed groups using voxel-based morphometry. Multi-level models assessed (across years) cognitive functioning. Results At baseline, was observed 23 (5.4%). This finding related anatomical GM reduction along cortical regions involved limbic circuit systems. Longitudinal analyses indicated that each other as well combined use levodopa dopamine agonists. Worse apathetic states associated with poorer executive functions. Conclusions Apathy joint non-exclusive neuropsychiatric stages decrease several
