This paper analyses findings of the ‘PROWELLMIGRANTS’ 2 project, which qualitatively investigated COVID‐19 impacts on migrants’ well‐being and mental health in Kerala, India. It draws a novel conceptual framework that combines assemblage‐thinking with theories social contracts disasters. Abstract Current studies often present environmental and climate migration in three ways: an environmentally deterministic way, as adaptation strategy or a ‘wicked’ phenomenon. This bibliometric thematic analysis analysed 147 from January 2015 until August 2020 on the Greater Mekong Subregion Ganges‐Brahmaputra Delta Region (India Bangladesh) to determine what extent dominant discourses mobilities have moved away determinism. Results of this study suggest that most studies, which clearly framed migration, tend remain rather deterministic. Further, spatial level whether it was local non‐local, did not correspond different theoretical conceptual approaches migration.
