Fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) is globally recognized for its adverse implications on human health. Yet, remain limited the individual contribution of particular PM components to toxicity, especially considering regional disparities. Moreover, prevention solutions -associated health effects are scarce. In present study, we comprehensively characterized and compared primary constituents their altered metabolites from two locations: Taiyuan Guangzhou. Analysis year-long samples revealed 84 major components, encompassing organic carbon, elemental ions, metals, chemicals. exhibited higher contamination, associated risks, dithiothreitol activity, cytotoxicities than Guangzhou’s counterpart. Applying metabolomics, BEAS-2B lung cells exposed both cities were screened significant alterations. A correlation analysis by critical toxic in regions. Among -down-regulated metabolites, phosphocholine emerged as a promising intervention cytotoxicities. Its supplementation effectively attenuated -induced energy metabolism disorder cell death via activating fatty acid oxidation inhibiting Phospho1 expression. The highlighted chemicals displayed combined toxicities, potentially counteracted phosphocholine. Our study offered functional metabolite alleviate cellular provided insights into geo-based variability components.
