Enhanced use of heavy metals for commercial and non-commercial applications has resulted in industrial domestic discharge loaded with toxic metal ions creating increased environmental concern. Owing to the wide array that can be effectively removed, relatively low cost economical process conditions, removal by adsorption attracted scientific community over years. Search novel adsorbents which are cost-effective higher affinity reusability been an area active research. Carbon based adsorbents, offer enhanced surface area, volume ratio ease functionalization, have proven more effective than conventional both inorganic organic contaminants. Among various carbon nanotubes, graphene modified oxide composites gaining increasing importance as from waste waters. This paper presents a comprehensive review on these adsorptive metals.
