Abstract Environmental degradation and energy shortages are becoming increasingly important as science technology advance. Here, we review the photocatalytic approach of functionalized carbon quantum dots (CQDs) along with their up-converted photoluminescence behaviour, well photoinduced electron transfer capabilities, opening a new path to effective metal-free photocatalyst. In this article, focusing on recent invention CQDs CQD-based photocatalyst for environmental remediation such dye degradation, CO2 conversion, water splitting categorization synthesis CQDs-derived photocatalysts, applications concerns. Although it is essential incorporate multiple perspectives, since CQD-derived photocatalysts have varied perspectives tackle unique applications, our analysis expected offer additional details CQD methods, tuning properties surface groups, mechanism photocatalysts.

This review article discusses the potential of using metal-doped TiO2 as a photocatalyst for dye degradation in water. is promising but limited due to its fast electron-hole recombination rate and vast bandgap energy.
