An upsurge in global population and rapid urbanization has accelerated huge dependence on petroleum-derived fuels consequent environmental concerns owing to greenhouse gas emissions the atmosphere. integrated biorefinery uses lignocellulosic feedstock as raw material for production of renewable biofuels, other fine chemicals. The sustainable bio-economy industry would benefit greatly from effective use biomass obtained agricultural feedstocks replace petrochemical products. Lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, extractives, which are essential components biomass, must be separated or upgraded into useful forms order fully realize potential biorefinery. development low-cost green pretreatment technologies with deconstruction is imperative an efficient bioprocess. abundance microorganisms along their continuous various degradative enzymes makes them suited environmentally friendly bioconversion agro-industrial wastes viable bioproducts. present review highlights concept biorefinery, its valorization by strategies biofuels biochemicals. major barriers challenges technologies, sustainability bioproducts, promising solutions alleviate those bottlenecks also summarized.

The development of sustainable biorefineries and bioeconomy has been the mandate most governments with major focus on restricting climate change concerns finding new strategies to maintain global food supply chain. Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are short-chain oligomers which due their excellent prebiotic potential in nutraceutical sector attracted intense research recent years. agro-industrial crop waste can be utilized for production XOS derived from hemicellulose fraction (xylan) lignocellulosic materials. extraction xylan, is traditionally achieved by acidic alkaline pretreatments which, however, have limited industrial applications. inclusion cutting-edge environmentally beneficial pretreatment methods technologies such as deep eutectic solvents green catalysts preferred. Moreover, xylans biomass using combinatorial approaches may help economizing whole bioprocess. current review outlines factors involved xylan depolymerization processes different subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis production. types oligosaccharides growth healthy gut bacteria also explained. introduction modern molecular made it possible identify enzymes microorganisms desired characteristics usage processes.
