Abstract Anaerobic digestion constitutes a sustainable method for waste management and renewable energy generation, addressing significant environmental societal challenges. Renewable liquid fuels are crucial for sustainable energy transitions. However, conventional biodiesel production via transesterification suffers from limitations such as slow reaction kinetics and inefficient mass transfer. Ultrasonic technology has emerged an effective intensification route through enhanced mixing contacting at the oil-alcohol interface. This bibliometric study charts expanding global research landscape on ultrasound-assisted synthesis over 2003–2023. A literature search of Scopus database identified 740 publications applying ultrasonic production. Publications were analyzed using indicators visualization tools to provide quantitative insights. Results show substantial output growth since 2007, led by nations like India, Malaysia, China, Iran U.S. Key institutions authors driving advancements identified, alongside major areas. Elephant grass (EG), or Pennisetum purpureum, is gaining attention as a robust renewable biomass source for energy production amidst growing global demands and the push alternatives to fossil fuels. This review paper explores status of EG sustainable bioenergy resource, integrating various studies present comprehensive analysis its potential in markets.
