The South American tomato pinworm, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), is native to the western Neotropics. After invading Spain in 2006, it spread rapidly throughout Afro-Eurasia and has become a major threat world production. Integrated pest management (IPM) strategies have been developed, but widespread insecticide use caused selection for resistance as well undesirable effects on key beneficial arthropods. Augmentation conservation biological control relying omnivorous mirid predators proved successful of T. absoluta, where implementation dependent abiotic, biotic (e.g., alternative prey), anthropogenic factors pesticides). Research carried out larval parasitoids, showing potential further development sustainable control. resistant varieties ongoing, they are not commercially available yet. Knowledge gaps remain be filled optimize IPM packages crops help prevent worldwide.

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) originated in South America and is one of the most serious pests tomatoes. It also known to attack other solanaceous crops, including potato, eggplant, pepper, tobacco, weedy species such as black nightshade. After accidental introduction into Spain 2006, this pest spread rapidly throughout Afro-Eurasia has become a major threat tomato production worldwide. Here, we report first record T. an invasive China. was found fields Ili Kazakg Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Region (Ili, Xinjiang), China, its occurrence confirmed by both morphological molecular approaches. In Ili, been We larvae generally mining feeding on leaves boring fruits, with multiple sometimes observed single fruit. Its infestation levels differ among host species. all surveyed fields, infested 100% plants. some up 90% eggplant potato plants were infested. Climate change and invasive species are major environmental issues facing the world today. They represent threats for various types of ecosystems worldwide, mainly managed such as agriculture. This study aims to examine link between climate biological invasion insect pest species. Increased international trade systems human mobility have led increasing introduction rates insects while could decrease barriers their establishment distribution. To mitigate economic damage it is important understand biotic abiotic factors affecting process (transport, introduction, establishment, dispersal) in terms change. We highlight process: diet breadth, phenological plasticity, lifecycle strategies.
