To investigate the structural characteristics and driving factors of metazooplankton community in cascade reservoirs Feiyun River Basin, monitoring surveys were conducted at 18 sampling sites across different seasons: September 2021 (autumn), January 2022 (winter), May (spring), July (summer). These identified 51 species, with highest species abundance observed summer lowest winter. Notably, densities biomasses peaked spring, averaging 13.57 ind./l (where stands for individuals per liter) 0.362 mg/l, respectively, while average (9.20 ind./l) (0.262 mg/l) occurred winter, respectively. Seasonal variation had a notable influence on composition metazooplankton, Rotifera predominating autumn, Copepoda winter spring. Cyclops larva Nauplius consistently dominated throughout. Correlation analyses revealed significant negative association between richness Pielou evenness indices phosphate total phosphorus concentrations, Redundancy chlorophyll a, water temperature, phosphorus, conductivity, pH, as key environmental influencing seasonal distribution community. This study provides preliminary assessment dynamics communities offering foundational insights evaluating ecological health basin waters.

Abstract: Aim Zooplankton functional groups play an important role in lake functioning and can readily respond to environmental changes may be associated with phytoplankton changes. In warmer regions, zooplankton species have a smaller body size, which decreases their grazing capacity, attenuating top-down control throughout phytoplankton. We evaluated density biomass of relationship algal horizontal reservoir zonation (pelagic, sublittoral, eulittoral zones) the shallow reservoir. hypothesize that are fluctuations zonation. Methods Changes structure group controlling limnological variables were verified at three sampling stations: pelagic, zones mesotrophic Results distributed seven groups. The not clearly variations However, zonation, where specific found zones. Conclusions related but due dominance small organisms.
