Understanding perspectives of HIV/AIDS affected households on food and nutrition interventions and social protection programmes in Zimbabwe

Introduction The study was aimed at understanding the needs and perspectives of HIV affected households on food nutrition security intervention programmes. Methods used qualitative methods that include focus groups discussions key informant interviews to solicit for lived experiences People Living With (PLWHIV). Results results revealed programmes by both government development partners (donors) can be divided into four (4) categories: security, livelihood, health, social protection. Interventions targeted health included provision antiretroviral drugs PLWHIV counselling persons. Intervention protection aid cash transfers. Discussion recommendations based research findings are should more resilience building as a way capacity PLWHIV. This way, sustainability is improved. As such, it important ensure, through policy, all have component improve participants programme sustainability. Furthermore, there need targeting beneficiaries clearly define “vulnerable” group.
