Investigating the barriers of blockchain technology integrated food supply chain: a BWM approach

Purpose Blockchain is an evolving technology that has impact on a variety of industries and related operations including food supply chain. There are several challenges associated in the implementation blockchain As result, goal this research to identify analyse barriers with chains. Design/methodology/approach A comprehensive literature review conducted 16 primary chain experts finalise these identified further categorise them into four groups. Furthermore, best worst method used prioritise finalised barriers. Findings The findings suggest “technological barriers” “organisational among for blockchain. These could be mitigated through collaboration, efficient development development, increasing technical competence. Research limitations/implications In terms limitation, there possibility some were overlooked process, expert judgement might prejudiced. Effective technologies and practices for reducing pollution in warehouses - A review

This article examines the challenges of implementing United Nation Sustainable Development Goals 2050 green initiative for warehouse management and operation highlights a gap in literature on specific strategies reducing greenhouse gas emissions pollution warehousing logistics operations. A four-step review process was used to analyze 75 recent research articles environmental sustainability, smart energy consumption practices. Warehouse building configuration were reviewed identify critical issues, along with industrial legislation European Union, States Asia. study found that increasing construction renovations are worsening waste production, while space demand will reach 560 × 106 by 2025. Purpose Consumers, governments and regulatory agencies are concerned about the social environmental aspect that pushes firms to move towards circular economy. The transformation of existing linear model into a depends on several economy practices. Therefore, purpose this study is identify analyse critical factors responsible for adoption Design/methodology/approach In total, 15 identified through literature review 12 finalised with grey Delphi method. Further, these prioritised using weighted aggregated sum/product assessment (WASPAS) A sensitivity analysis also conducted test robustness ranking obtained from WASPAS. Findings finding show “top management participation,” “market recovered products” “circular oriented R&D activities promotion” most significant practice adoption. These need address highest priority by stakeholders. Research limitations/implications This beneficial managers formulate their strategies prioritisation supports professionals optimise effort resources adopt practice. Originality/value explores analyses factor in supply chain context emerging economies.

Management of Postharvest Losses and Wastages in the Indian Tomato Supply Chain—A Temperature-Controlled Storage Perspective

Tomatoes are an extensively cultivated and consumed horticulture product in India. Horticulture produce undergoes a series of operations such as harvesting, storage, packaging, loading, unloading, transportation before reaching the end customer food supply chain (FSC). Any inefficiencies these cause postharvest losses (PHL) affect whole FSC. However, focus existing studies has been more on improving productivity than addressing PHL. Several technologies, cold storage evaporative cooling, available to address PHL, but hardly any technology implemented Indian Hence, need identify adoption barriers perform feasibility analysis technologies. This study addresses this gap by first identifying effect PHL tomato FSC, exploring different technologies challenges implementing those finally proposing feasible option manage The case approach was followed for collection relevant data. findings show several reasons across stages including reduced shelf life due improper long-distance transport. Based temperature-controlled facilities collaboration among FSC partners suggested best possible solutions problem
