Heart rate variability (HRV) indexes how efficiently we mobilize and utilize limited self-regulatory resources to maintain homeostasis. HRV plays a vital role in regulatory capacity, executive functions, health, performance. We address common misconceptions regarding cardiovascular measurement, biofeedback training. This review highlights the importance of context individual differences interpreting HRV. debunk improve training for health

Slow-paced muscle contraction (SPC) is an easily learned method for increasing heart rate variability (HRV). SPC provides alternative to slow-paced breathing (SPB) in clinical and optimal performance applications. SPB can be challenging (e.g., chronic pain), anatomically impossible phrenic nerve damage), or medically contraindicated diabetes kidney disease). may especially helpful clients who breathe dysfunctionally cannot slow their the resonance frequency (RF) range. The RF individual’s unique stimulation that maximally increases HRV. Wrist-core-ankle several HRV metrics more than only contracting wrists ankles. Preliminary evidence suggests combining wrist-ankle with increase either alone.
