ABSTRACT Ferrochrome slag (FCS) and ferrochrome flue dust (FFD) are the two major solid wastes generated in production of alloy. Physical mechanical studies reveal better properties so that these can be gainfully utilized many construction fields, particularly as aggregate concrete works. However, chemical about 11.2% 20.3% residual hazardous chromium (as Cr 2 O 3 ) FCS FFD, respectively. Incidentally, almost all remains inherently entrapped trivalent metallic forms with little chance leaching soluble hexavalent from wastes. preliminary toxicity characteristic procedure (TCLP) analysis result identifies FFD waste it fails to satisfy TCLP standard respect chromium. But situ, voluminous after satisfactory compliance disposed of. under adverse conditions such reduced particle size low pH demonstrate release a significant amount leachable As such, still satisfies for thus comes out purview waste. meet regulatory criteria Indian discharge standards surface water bodies chromium, thereby restricting its usage potential disposal consideration.
