One type of genotype-environment interaction occurs when genetic effects on a phenotype are moderated by an environment; or environmental genes. Here we outline these types models, and propose test based the classical twin design, which includes observed variables (polygenic scores: PGSs) that account for part variance phenotype. We introduce environment-by-PGS results simulation study to address statistical power parameter recovery. Next, apply model empirical data anxiety negative affect in children. The detect depends heritability phenotype, strength PGS. indicate under realistic conditions sample size, interaction, is viable approach interaction. In 7-year-old children, defined two PGS largest association studies 2 traits genetically correlated childhood affect, namely major depression (MDD) intelligence (IQ). find common influences amplified children with lower IQ-PGS.
