The present study describes how vegetation (the tree layer) is shaped along the elevation gradients in eastern part of Indian Himalayan Region. Various attributes, distribution, population structure, and regeneration patterns 75 species belonging to 31 families were studied. Tree richness shows a low plateau (peaked between 1,300–1,500 m) with linearly decreasing pattern above 1,500 m asl. Ericaceae was found as dominant family, followed by Lauraceae Rosaceae. distributional species-to-genera ratio (S/G) did not follow any particular trends, while β-diversity increased gradient. Margalef index richness, Menheink Fisher alpha be highest at lower altitudes (1,000–1,500 m), Simpson middle (2,600–3,000 m). Random distribution shown maximum (47.3%), contagious (42.9%), regular (10.8%). good healthier number seedlings (10.2%), fair (43.5%), poor (30.3%), 16% observed regenerating. Acer laevigatum (1,500 Prunus nepalensis (3,300 Viburnum sympodiale (3,400 among new regenerating respective altitudes. structure terms proportion individuals seedlings, saplings, adult class varied all transects. Species better on upper limits have been recognized probable for upward movement.

The papers presented in this special issue cover a wide range of topics including the impact climate change on Indian biodiversity through modelling approaches, resilience ecosystems to climate-induced shifts, and role remote sensing monitoring forest dynamics. This body research focuses various ecological systems, highlighting consequences providing actionable insights for conservation policy practice. By addressing data gaps, enhancing model precision, integrating technological advancements like GIS Earth Observation supports ongoing efforts conserve fragile ecosystems, such as Himalaya. Furthermore, studies synthesising collecting India's help understanding patterns their biotic abiotic drivers country's varied landscapes, which offer valuable perspectives sustainable development strategies. these diverse efforts, seeks advance our impacts foster resilient alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action) 15 (Life Land).
