Freshwater ecosystems are among the most important worldwide, however, over last centuries, anthropogenic pressures have had catastrophic effects on them. Mercury (Hg) is one of main environmental contaminants which globally affect and particularly freshwater wildlife. While Hg originates from natural sources, activities such as agriculture, biomass combustion, gold mining increase its concentrations.Gold drivers emission in tropical responsible for up to 38% global emissions. Once methylated form (MeHg), mercury biomagnifies through trophic chain accumulates top predators. Due toxicity MeHg, long-lived predators even more subjected chronic they accumulate time.In present study we quantified contamination two predators, Black caiman Melanosuchus niger Agami heron Agamia agami, their prey Kaw-Roura Nature Reserve French Guiana evaluated biomagnification rate chain. Our results show that despite a TMF range others region (4.38 our study), ecosystem elevated concentrations Hg. We found blood adult (2.10 ± 0.652 μg g−1 dw) chicks (1.089 0.406 dw). These findings highlight need better evaluate potential impact especially regarding reprotoxic effects.
