Teacher education should foster teachers’ competencies in teaching mathematical modelling since it is a demanding task. Mathematical requires spontaneous reactions, which are related to the core of competencies–teacher noticing. The study designed video-based course develop these context modelling. findings revealed noticeable improvement their noticing after participating semester-long course. In particular, pre-service topical focus shifted towards thinking and pedagogy. They made significantly more interpretive comments used task-dimensional knowledge for reason about events. These results appear support viability using video this purpose.

Abstract Research in mathematics education highlights the importance of including modelling for teaching this subject. In 2020, trend coexisted with a grave contingency situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic but which, despite its negative aspects, provided realistic and authentic context modelling. Given situation, it is relevant to study which aspects learning process prospective teachers related mathematical their reflections on inclusion during transition period between face-to-face virtual contexts. To end, we used didactic suitability criteria construct, proposed onto-semiotic approach, as theoretical reference. This qualitative research naturalistic type, since did not interfere Master’s Programme Mathematics Teacher Education studied. We conducted content analysis 122 master’s degree final projects written 2019–2020 course implemented pandemic. highlight following results: (a) about 40% stated that they units reflected inclusion; (b) reflections, positively assessed mainly based epistemic, affective ecological criteria; (c) 60% implement modelling, rule out was due lack knowledge or favourable because prioritised other process, given situation.

The purpose of this study conduct a bibliometric analysis published articles related in elementary school. This research uses method. used the Scopus database scanned with keywords “mathematical modelling” and “elementary school” time span 1990-2024 obtained many 78 articles. data collected was then analyzed using R-software VOSviewer applications. results found that development trend schools significantly increased after 2015-2023 percentage 67.95%. top researchers who have most influence are dominated by authors from Germany Denmark. Furthermore, recent years dominant topics studies such cycle, development, competency, concept, knowledge, modeling process, task, empirical study, creative thinking. It hoped future can focus on literature carried out subject high school college level include 1960-1990 which campaign period early integrating curriculum various countries world.

Although teacher noticing is regarded as a critical component of expertise that matters for student learning, empirical evidence verifying the relationship between and learning outcomes scare. Using relatively large-scale sample involving 189 middle school biology teachers from 156 schools their students ( n = 7,086), this quantitative study investigated association teachers’ level noticing, measured by standardized video-based instrument, achievement. An analysis utilizing two-level hierarchical linear modeling revealed significant positive outcomes. Specifically, proportion variance explained was 0.383. Our offers robust timely verifies core assumption underpinning research well professional development efforts focusing on noticing. Implications are discussed.
