Heavy metal toxicity is a serious threat to human health due its bioaccumulation, biomagnification, and persistent nature in the environment including aquatic systems. In recent past, heavy contamination has occurred various anthropogenic sources. The concentration of potentially toxic metals was determined by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy Tilapia ( Oreochromis mossambicus ), highly farmed consumed fish species southern parts India. mean levels Fe were found be higher major organs with highest liver (Mean 1554.4 ± 1708.7 mg/kg) lowest muscles 130.757 33.3 mg/kg). Correlation Matrix analysis revealed relationships between occurrence different indicated similar origins chemical properties. Target hazard quotient for Cd, Co, Pb, Cr Liver, Co Gills, Muscle > 1 adults, which showed significant risk from combined effects these metals. potential humans, according cancer (CR) assessment attributed mainly Cd levels. Overall, moderate consumption advised limit bioaccumulation over prolonged exposure associated risks.

Shalini, R.; Arisekar, U.; Jeyasekaran, G; Shakila, R.J.; Sundhar, S.; Sivaraman, B., and Tamizhselvan, S., 2025. Mineral composition of the commercially valuable fish shellfish caught along Thoothukudi Coast, Southeast India. Journal Coastal Research, 41(1), 94–104. Charlotte (North Carolina), ISSN 0749-0208. The SE coast India boasts a diverse array species, influenced by its geographical features, coastal habitats, marine ecosystems. To study nutritional value shellfish, concentration seven minerals (calcium [Ca], magnesium [Mg], iron [Fe], zinc [Zn], copper [Cu], manganese [Mn], selenium [Se]) in 28 finfish, crustaceans, cephalopods, bivalves region was analyzed using an inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometer. Based on concentration, were order Mg > Ca Fe Zn Cu Mn Se. mineral varied among different finfish shellfish. highest total recorded oysters (Magallana bilineata; 112.8 mg/100 g), followed ribbonfish (Trichiurus lepturus; 74.7 flower shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus; 71.6 g). Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) (36.4 g) (7.42 ± 2.25 concentrations. Among M. bilineata (38.3 (3.73 mg/ 100 (5.02 (28.7 results indicate that ribbonfish, goldenstripe sardine, mackerel, are good sources. This provides baseline data regarding
