Several studies found that the systemic immune‐inflammation index (SII) is a prognostic factor for mortality in patients with solid tumors. It unknown whether an increased SII generally healthy individuals reflects risk developing cancer. Our objective was to investigate association between and incident cancers prospective cohort study. Traditional neuroimage analysis pipelines involve computationally intensive, time-consuming optimization steps, and thus, do not scale well to large cohort studies with thousands or tens of individuals. In this work we propose a fast accurate deep learning based neuroimaging pipeline for the automated processing structural human brain MRI scans, replicating FreeSurfer's anatomical segmentation including surface reconstruction cortical parcellation. To end, introduce an advanced architecture capable whole into 95 classes. The network incorporates local global competition via competitive dense blocks skip pathways, as multi-slice information aggregation that specifically tailor performance towards both sub-cortical structures. Further, perform thickness by introducing spectral spherical embedding directly mapping labels from image surface. This approach provides full FreeSurfer alternative volumetric (in under 1 minute) surface-based (within only around 1h runtime). For sustainability extensive validation: assert high accuracy on several unseen datasets, measure generalizability demonstrate increased test-retest reliability, sensitivity group differences in dementia.

Abstract Risk stratification is critical for the early identification of high-risk individuals and disease prevention. Here we explored potential nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy-derived metabolomic profiles to inform on multidisease risk beyond conventional clinical predictors onset 24 common conditions, including metabolic, vascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal neurological diseases cancers. Specifically, trained a neural network learn disease-specific states from 168 circulating metabolic markers measured in 117,981 participants with ~1.4 million person-years follow-up UK Biobank validated model four independent cohorts. We found be associated incident event rates all investigated except breast cancer. For 10-year outcome prediction 15 endpoints, without established contribution, combination age sex state equaled or outperformed predictors. Moreover, added predictive information over comprehensive variables eight diseases, type 2 diabetes, dementia heart failure. Decision curve analyses showed that improvements translated into utility wide range decision thresholds. Taken together, our study demonstrates both limitations NMR-derived as assay many simultaneously.

Abstract COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by novel coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. The viral spike (S) protein engages the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor to invade host cells with ~10–15-fold higher affinity compared SARS-CoV S-protein, making it highly infectious. Here, we assessed if ACE2 polymorphisms can alter susceptibility SARS-CoV-2 affecting this interaction. We analyzed over 290,000 samples representing >400 population groups from public genomic datasets and identified multiple protein-altering variants.
