In the past two decades, China’s government subsidy policy has promoted rapid development of photovoltaic industry. Concerns have been raised about how financial performance firms changes with gradual cancellation subsidies. Taking “531 New Policy” industry as an exogenous shock, based on sample listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share from 2015 to 2023, this paper uses diference-in-diferences model study impact phasing out enterprises micro level. The found that implementation significantly reduced general. Considering difference industrial chain links, negative decreasing subsidies downstream is more significant, among which R&D investment plays a partially intermediary role. addition, significant senior eastern than young midwest enterprises. conclusions important practical implications for enterprises’ decision-making under changing external environment.
