The study aims to answer the question of how change in tree canopy cover desert cities due urbanization process affects ecosystem services. city Phoenix, which is located northern part Sonoran Desert southwestern United States, was determined as area. i-tree software used assess 20-year (2004-2023) Phoenix and calculate services benefits obtained from trees. findings show that area decreased by 58.26 km2 (4.34%) 20 years. Therefore, amount carbon sequestration, rate removing air pollution, hydrological benefit values trees decreased. results will contribute decision-makers planners urban planning processes regions with similar ecological characteristics.

Aim of study: In the face global concern about climate change, urban forests have great potential in scenario mitigating change and reducing emissions by carbon dioxide. Thus, objective this work was to evaluate for dioxide (CO2) removal a forest fragment. Area A native Atlantic Forest fragment located Curitiba, State Paraná, Brazil. Material methods: To do so, dendrometric data measured years 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018 2021 were used, totalling 77,016 individuals. From these data, height, shoot underground biomass estimated based on allometric equations available literature. The growth dynamics stock quantified difference at beginning (2006) end assessment (2021) general, genus diameter class. Main results: results showed that around 156.56 t.ha-1 accumulated 15 years, resulting 64.23 carbon, 235.51 equivalent (CO2eq) annual of4.06 t.ha-1.year-1. Araucaria predominant throughout period relation generafound, followed Ocotea, Luehea Casearia, while Gymmanthes, Clethra Citronella laterincluded evaluations. individuals with class 60 70 cm responsiblefor largest amount stored. concentration other genera higher fordiameter classes smaller than 40 cm. Research highlights: Given numbers found accumulation, it can be concluded positively contributed absorption fixation atmospheric biomass.
