Many clients with suicidal thoughts and behaviors will also have a history of trauma. Little is known about the ways that mental health clinicians implement trauma informed approach (TIA) this population or challenges they encounter in work. This qualitative study (N = 30) explored use TIAs to address behaviors. Thematic analysis identified barriers TIA individuals behaviors: insufficient knowledge skills (n 30), systemic 28), lack integration fields suicide 26). Implications for clinicians, educators, organizations are discussed.

ABSTRACT The number of youth emergency department (ED) visits due to mental health concerns has been steadily increasing with a large being referred from school. Despite the increase in ED visits, there not an students who are actually admitted hospital. Furthermore, school more likely be discharged ED. Given unique relationship between and referrals do require hospitalization, this study sought understand how schools supporting return after visit.
