The nature of global dietary supplements is transitioning from animal derivatives to plant based. Industries around the world are seeking vegan alternatives animal-derived supplements. microalgal industry expected undergo a market boom in current decade. They rich reservoirs multiple compounds capable enhancing immunity, fortifying nutritional diets improving cardiovascular health. also high lipid producing organisms, which make them viable candidates search for energy alternatives. However, inability translate vitro results onto industrial scale major drawback research landscape. It therefore, vital find robust species feasible quantity compounds. This paper investigates potential four microalgae sourced coastal town Mangalore, India nutraceutical industries clean industry. Desmodesmus komareikii (MK990101) was found be total lipid, while three Chlorella were relatively richer protein yields. thermophila (MN006612) yielding harvests up nearly 280 tonnes/acre/year. yielded highest amount both mono polyunsaturated fatty acids. acid profiles (MN006612), vulgaris (MN252517-18) sorokiniana (MN011568) can explored alternative edible oil. saturated acids, used production quality biofuels.

Potash tailing piles caused by fertilizer production shape their surroundings because of the associated salt impact. A previous study in these environments addressed functional community “biocrust” comprising various micro- and macro-organisms inhabiting soil surface. In that study, biocrust microalgae cyanobacteria were isolated morphologically identified amongst an ecological discussion. However, morphological species identification maybe is difficult phenotypic plasticity, which might lead to misidentifications. The present revisited earlier list using integrative approach, including molecular methods. Seventy-six strains sequenced markers small subunit (SSU) rRNA gene internal transcribed spacer (ITS). Phylogenetic analyses confirmed some species. several other could only be at genus level. This indicates a high proportion possibly unknown taxa, underlined low congruence identifications our results. general, approach resulted more precise should considered as extension list. majority taxa found common saline habitats, whereas likely occur nonsaline environments. Consequently, biocrusts potash contain unique will reveal new detailed future studies and, hence, provide data on biodiversity, well candidates for applied research.

This study focused on five microalgal strains resembling Desmodesmus isolated from the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. The objective was to assess effectiveness of morphological and molecular methods for algal identification evaluate genetic diversity relevant taxa. reference were cultured axenically in a BG-11 medium. Both microscopy (at magnifications 40× 100×) techniques (using ITS 18S rRNA markers) employed analysis. Phylogenetic analyses conducted using Maximum Likelihood Bayesian inference methods. results indicated that ten consistently identified both approaches.
