Plant biostimulants are a novel class of naturally derived agricultural inputs. The grouping categories within the regulatory term "biostimulant" contains disparate inputs, such as humates, amino acids, bacteria, and algal extracts (i.e., many extraction processes applied to relatively small group selected seaweeds/microalgae). All seem have ability improve health abiotic stress resistance treated plants. Even seaweeds (phycobiostimulants) considerably different from one another (they not all same yet commonly referred seaweed extract, even in peer-reviewed publications), current commercial offerings available select green, red, brown seaweeds. Commercial formulations combine increasingly leverage synergies by blending with other inputs agrochemicals. Extensive research highlights that various algal-based can effectively support both biotic when terrestrial plants cultivated algae. This article explores scientific nuances phycobiostimulants, challenging traditional classifications emphasizing their essential role sustainable agronomy, growing phyconomy, global food security.
