Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are gaining attention as viable alternatives to traditional aqueous in zinc–air batteries (ZABs), owing their enhanced performance and stability. In this study, anion-exchange solid (A-SPEs) were synthesized via electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions. Thin films prepared using the solvent casting method characterized proton nuclear magnetic resonance (¹H-NMR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The ion-exchange capacity (IEC), KOH uptake, ionic conductivity, battery also obtained by varying degree of functionalization A-SPEs (30 120%, denoted PSf30/PSf120, respectively). IEC revealed that PSf120 exhibited a higher quantity functional groups, enhancing its hydroxide which reached value 22.19 mS cm−1. addition, demonstrated power density (70 vs. 50 mW cm−2) rechargeability than benchmarked Fumapem FAA-3-50 A-SPE. Postmortem further confirmed lower formation ZnO for PSf120, indicating improved stability reduced passivation zinc electrode. Therefore, type A-SPE could improve all-solid-state ZABs.
