Silver nanoparticles (NPs) have become highly promising agents in the field of biomedical science, offering wide therapeutic potential due to their unique physicochemical properties. Marine antifouling coatings that rely on the release of agents are most prevalent and effective strategy for combating fouling. However, environmental concerns arising from widespread discharge these into marine ecosystems cannot be overlooked. An innovative promising alternative involves incorporating antimicrobial groups polymers to create endowed with intrinsic properties. In this study, we reported an urushiol-based benzoxazine (URB) monomer, synthesized natural urushiol antibacterial rosin amine. The URB monomer was subsequently polymerized through thermal curing ring-opening polymerization, resulting in formation a polymer (URHP) coating inherent surface URHP is smooth, flat, non-permeable. Contact angle energy measurements confirm hydrophobic low energy. absence agent release, properties can effectively kill or repel fouling organisms. Furthermore, bare glass slides serving as control sample, demonstrates outstanding anti-adhesion capabilities against four types bacteria (E. coli, S. aureus, V. alginolyticus, Bacillus sp.), three microalgae (N. closterium, P. tricornutum, D. zhan-jiangensis), proving its efficacy preventing organisms settling adhering surface. Thus, combined endow superior performance. This non-release represents green environmentally sustainable antifouling.
