Aerogels
are
three-dimensional
nanomaterials
with
low
thermal
conductivity,
density,
high
specific
surface
area,
and
porosity.
They
have
demonstrated
remarkable
performance
advantages
in
insulation,
catalysis,
adsorption
recent
years.
However,
their
inherent
brittleness
weak
skeletal
structure
limit
applications.
In
order
to
improve
the
resilience
expand
capabilities
of
aerogels,
it
is
essential
optimize
intrinsic
properties.

chemical
vapor

(CVD)
method
offers
a

advantages,

Abstract
This
study
presents
a
novel
proof‐of‐concept
method
for
synthesizing
aerogel
on
ceramic
insulation
blankets
using
vacuum
infusion
sol–gel
process
with
subsequent
drying
at
ambient
pressure,
enhancing
adhesion
and
durability
enabling
coating
complex
geometries.
Scanning
electron
microscopy
(SEM)
analysis
revealed
porous
microstructure
in
the
blankets,
while
polymethylsilsesquioxane
(PMSQ)
exhibited
well‐defined
interconnected
network.
Fourier
transform
infrared
(FTIR)
spectroscopy
solid‐state
nuclear
magnetic
resonance
(NMR)
analyses
confirmed
presence
of
silica
carbon,
respectively.
Among
various
compositions,
10
wt.%
PMSQ
blanket
establishes
highly
effective
thermal
stability
thermogravimetric
(TGA)
results.
Pristine
were
subjected
to
1300°C
butane
flame
high‐temperature
tests
that
indicated
10%
composite
presented
better
properties
back
surface
temperature
approximately
170°C,
lowest
among
other
temperatures
samples.
Water
contact
angle
measurements
hydrophobic
free
energy
(SFE)
blankets.
Optimizing
surface‐free
tension
is
crucial
these
materials’
hydrophobicity,
insulation,
structural
integrity.
