The
Carabid
beetles
are
a
key
group
for
assessing
ecological
characteristics
of
natural
environments
because
they
play
role
as
bioindicator
organisms
suitable
both
theoretical
and
applied
studies.

using

Dolomite

Abstract
The
climate
crisis
seriously
threatens
Central
European
forests
and
their
ecosystem
functions.
There
are
indications
that
old-growth
relatively
resilient
efficient
in
micro-climatic
regulation
during
extreme
climatic
conditions.
This
study
evaluates
five
well-protected
old
beech
Germany,
part
of
a
UNESCO
World
Heritage
Site.
We
examined
temperature
dynamics
vitality
core,
buffer,
border
zones
hot
days
from
2017
to
2023,
using
Landsat
8
9
imageries
assess
Land
Surface
Temperature
(LST)
Normalized
Difference
Vegetation
Index
(NDVI),
alongside
on-site
Air
(AT)
measurements.
Our
findings
reveal
all
were
impacted
by
recent
heat
events,
with
core
remaining
cooler
more
vital,
followed
buffer
zones.
Temperature-regulating
patterns
varied
landscape
characteristics
the
surrounding
matrixes.

site-dependent
cooling
effect
forest
interior
increased
higher
LST.

effective
protection
