Intermittent fasting (IF), a dietary pattern alternating between eating and periods within 24-hour cycle, has garnered recognition for its potential to enhance both healthspan lifespan in animal models humans. It also shows promise alleviating age-related diseases, including neurodegeneration. Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) spans severity range from mild deficits severe loss of function vascular dementia. Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion emerged as significant contributor VCI, instigating pathologies such microbleeds, blood-brain barrier dysfunction, neuronal loss, white matter lesions. Preclinical studies rodents strongly suggest that IF the attenuate pathological mechanisms, excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, inflammation, cell death pathways VCI models. Hence, this supports evaluating clinical trials existing at-risk patients. This review compiles data supporting IF's treating VCI-related pathologies, emphasizing mechanisms by which may mitigate these issues. Hence providing comprehensive overview available underlying make promising intervention VCI.

The metabolites of the ketogenic diet (KD), specifically ketone bodies (KB), are closely linked to brain health. KD is widely used treat epilepsy. It's also getting more attention for treating neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, its effectiveness in these areas well - recognized. This study aims explore research hotspots field health from 2013 2024, providing references directions future research. utilized R software, VOSviewer, CiteSpace analyze 1,162 publications this 2024. A total were included study. From 2021, there was an upward trend number field, followed by a slight decline 2021 2023. United States has highest exhibits most extensive collaboration with other countries, positioning it as leading nation field. journal Nutrients publications, while Epilepsia cited journal. Key subject terms include KD, Brain, Beta-Hydroxybutyrate, KB, Metabolism, Oxidative Stress. primary focuses application such epilepsy, role mechanisms metabolism, effects physiological properties (e.g., KB) antioxidative stress neuroprotection on beneficial health, use garnered widespread recognition globally. provides comprehensive in-depth analysis literature offering valuable insights into investigation.

Intermittent fasting focuses on the timing of eating rather than diet quality or energy intake, with evidence supporting its effects weight loss and improvements in cardiometabolic outcomes adults obesity. However, there is limited for feasibility efficacy young people. To address this, a scoping review was conducted to examine intermittent regimens individuals aged 10 25 treatment obesity focusing methodology, intervention parameters, outcomes, adherence, feasibility, efficacy. Due paucity this age group, adequately assess all published studies category, regardless status intention, were included review. The 34 (28 interventional 6 observational studies) 893 participants 12 25. Interventions varied 9 cohorts utilizing as an treatment. Thirteen utilized 8-h time-restricted eating. Primary risk factors (7/28), anthropometric measurements body composition (5/28), muscular performance (4/28), (1/28), others (4/28). All people reported some degree loss, although comparator groups significantly. This underscores various utilizations group highlights potential treating findings emphasize need rigorous standardized frameworks ensure comparability determine fasting's practicality depending outcome interest.
