Low-carbon agricultural technology (LCAT) is essential for China to achieve its carbon emissions peak by 2030 and neutrality 2060. Farmers’ adoption of LCAT crucial adapting mitigating climate change risks. This study explores the social-psychological factors shaping farmers’ behavior, utilizing Theory Planned Behavior Normative Activation Model. Survey data from 360 farmers in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings show that behavioral attitude, perceived control, subjective norms, personal norms have positive direct effects on adoption. The analyses also discovered four mediation paths indirectly influence adoption, including Subjective Norms → Personal Adoption Level; Consequence Awareness Responsibility Attribution Level. deepens our understanding mechanism underlying behavior. findings offer valuable insights promoting low-carbon technologies guiding policy development. Recommendations include leveraging social enhance educating ethical environmental stewardship, raising awareness farming’s impacts, providing incentives technical support reduce barriers.
