Blockchain technology promises transformative potential across diverse sectors, facilitating innovations in areas ranging from finance to healthcare. Despite its many promising applications, several barriers—including scalability challenges, regulatory complexities, and technical hurdles—limit widespread adoption. This systematic literature review delves into enhancements explores the legal landscapes impacting blockchain deployment ten key sectors: IoT, healthcare, finance, education, social media, genomics, supply chain, vehicular networks, e-voting, tourism. These sectors were selected based on their significant engagement with prominence analyzed literature. We examine technological advancements such as Layer-2 techniques, sharding, consensus algorithm optimization, rollups, discuss implications for throughput, latency, compliance standards General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The details these developments discusses broader industry academia, emphasizing need interdisciplinary research innovation. By identifying gaps current suggesting future directions, this study serves a roadmap researchers, practitioners, policymakers develop secure, scalable, compliant systems. Purpose As the global financial ecosystem grapples with complexities of modernization, blockchain technology emerges as a pivotal catalyst, offering banking, services, and insurance (BFSI) industry unprecedented opportunities for secured digital transformation enhanced customer trust. To gain comprehensive understanding adoption, this study aims to identify factors establish contextual interrelationships among them. Design/methodology/approach The authors have identified affecting adoption in BFSI through extensive literature review experts’ interviews. After identification factors, relationship has been established based on opinion total interpretive structural modeling (TISM) approach. Furthermore, are categorized into autonomous, dependent, linkage driving variables using cross-impact matrix multiplication applied classification analysis. Findings TISM-based model is divided eight different hierarchal levels which Government support placed lower most layer (level 8) indicates that crucial factor adoption. Further social influence security seventh sixth level hierarchy. Practical implications results will help policymakers direct resources from other hierarchy per their relevance. In essence, serves guiding compass, steering course sector toward more secure digitally transformed future. Originality/value current landscape, remains its nascent stage, leaving ample room exploration innovation. This stands pioneering effort comprehensively relationships within industry.
