The Atlantic horse mackerel ( Trachurus trachurus ) is a globally favored fish due to its abundance, nutritional value, and affordability, but it faces quality preservation challenges. To address this, this study aimed enhance value by creating low-salt smoked products with natural bioactive compounds from seafood forest sources. filets were divided into four groups: one as control, the others treated various extract solutions, specifically pine bark, mussels, microalgae. After 15 days of storage at 4°C, significant differences in properties observed. Moisture salt had an inverse relationship, decreasing moisture pH over time. Oxidation levels remained acceptable, although sensory was affected storage. Microbiological analysis uncovered high contamination certain samples specific points time, no pathogens such Salmonella spp. or Listeria monocytogenes detected. While microalgae most powerful antioxidant, performance hampered poor scores. On other hand, bark acceptable point view revealed some antimicrobial inhibition. Using antioxidants provides appealing solution for consumers seeking clean labels.

Abstract Soil property changes influence material transport from hillslopes to channels after the wildfire and may indirectly trigger debris flow initiation. This study investigates post‐fire soil evolution its role in hillslope erosion following 15 March 2024 Yajiang Fire, integrating field measurements with laboratory simulations quantify temperature‐ duration‐dependent their controls. Results demonstrate that wildfire‐driven organic matter alteration is governed predominantly by peak heating temperature not exposure duration. Post‐fire profiles are stratified into three thermal impact zones: (a) a high‐temperature zone (>600°C), characterized complete combustion; (b) water‐repellent (WR) (100–600°C), subdivided highly WR layer, an aggregate stability (AS)‐enhancement low layer; (c) unaffected (<100°C). The mobilized wind gravity, accumulate as dry ravel deposits, forming primary source of immediate flows. AS‐enhancement exhibiting improved stability, temporarily mitigates raindrop splash interrill underlying soils prior first rainfall event. However, this layer delays but does prevent deeper mobilization during subsequent intense runoff. These findings clarify thresholds controlling zonation, highlight mechanisms linking initiation, provide valuable data on processes.

This study, the chemical composition of pine resin collected from three different locations (Kaburgediği, Karabucak and Mavisilifke) Mersin province in Mediterranean Region Türkiye was investigated using headspace/GC-MS direct injection/GC-MS techniques. A commercial essential oil used as a control sample study. The analysis focused on key volatile compounds, including α-pinene, delta-3-carene, camphene, DL-limonene (mixture D- L-form), caryophyllene. method more effective for detecting compounds with higher volatility, such which abundant (66.12% headspace vs. 53.13% injection). On other hand, provided sensitivity less caryophyllene (4.82% injection 0.67% Kaburgediği). most significant difference between methods observed detection DL-limonene, showed concentrations (3.76% compared to (1.51%). suggests that is better quantifying lower while capturing overall aroma profile, especially compounds. highlights efficiency based compound's volatility. Forest trees are the world’s most important renewable natural resources in terms of their dominance among other biomasses and diversity molecules that they produce. tree extractives include terpenes polyphenols, widely recognized for biological activity. These found forest by-products, such as bark, buds, leaves, knots, commonly ignored forestry decisions. The present literature review focuses on vitro experimental bioactivity from phytochemicals Myrianthus arboreus, Acer rubrum, Picea mariana by-products with potential further nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical development. Although these extracts function antioxidants may act signaling pathways involved diabetes, psoriasis, inflammation, skin aging, much still remains to be investigated before using them therapeutic candidates, cosmetics, or functional foods. Traditional management systems focused wood must evolve towards a holistic approach, allowing use developing new value-added products.

Microwave (MW) drying of wood has gained popularity in the field modification. The rise temperature during MW leads to increased steam pressure, enhancing permeability but potentially decreasing mechanical properties. Understanding and moisture behaviors is crucial for its industrial application drying. Therefore, this study aimed characterize small Portuguese maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Aiton.) samples support a wider use technology. effects on water uptake compressive strength parallel grain were also investigated. results indicated three distinct phases rates, with an average 0.085% removed per second. Moreover, underwent stages: initial rapid increase, period constant temperature, slight decrease until was complete. At beginning drying, temperatures below 100 °C, ranging from 126 145 °C. Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) is a forest species of great ecological and economic interest in the European Union, especially Iberian Peninsula. Currently, one main threats this has to face spread quarantine pathogenic fungus (A2 list) Fusarium circinatum, causal agent pitch canker disease. Since strategies for control disease use resistant clones, it necessary carry out extensive work on susceptibility analysis several P. pinaster populations against F. circinatum. To end, we have studied 35 located throughout natural distribution range. After inoculation with circinatum spores, all was studied, correlating their morphological traits (height stem diameter) relating climate origin. The results obtained reported significant differences among both disease, negative correlation between height susceptibility. With respect origin, continental resistance established. Therefore, indicated characteristics could be selected establishment programs breeding forests.

The maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) is a highly valuable Mediterranean conifer. However, recurrent drought events threaten its propagation and conservation. P. populations exhibit remarkable differences in tolerance. To explore these differences, we analyzed stem transcriptional profiles of grafts combining genotypes with contrasting responses under well-watered water-stress regimes. Our analysis underscored that tolerance mainly associated constitutively expressed genes, which vary based on genotype provenance. identified key genes encoding proteins involved water stress response, abscisic acid signaling, growth control including PHD chromatin regulator, histone deubiquitinase, the ABI5-binding protein 3, transcription factors from Myb-related, DOF NAC LHY families. Additionally, drought-tolerant rootstock could enhance sensitive scions by regulating accumulation transcripts carbon mobilization, osmolyte biosynthesis, flavonoid terpenoid metabolism, reactive oxygen species scavenging. These included galactinol synthase, CBL-interacting serine/threonine kinase 5, BEL1-like homeodomain protein, dihydroflavonol 4-reductase, 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate. results revealed several hub help us to understand molecular physiological response conifers. Based all above, grafting selected rootstocks promising method for propagating elite recalcitrant conifer species, such as pinaster.
