The Atlantic horse mackerel ( Trachurus trachurus ) is a globally favored fish due to its abundance, nutritional value, and affordability, but it faces quality preservation challenges. To address this, this study aimed enhance value by creating low-salt smoked products with natural bioactive compounds from seafood forest sources. filets were divided into four groups: one as control, the others treated various extract solutions, specifically pine bark, mussels, microalgae. After 15 days of storage at 4°C, significant differences in properties observed. Moisture salt had an inverse relationship, decreasing moisture pH over time. Oxidation levels remained acceptable, although sensory was affected storage. Microbiological analysis uncovered high contamination certain samples specific points time, no pathogens such Salmonella spp. or Listeria monocytogenes detected. While microalgae most powerful antioxidant, performance hampered poor scores. On other hand, bark acceptable point view revealed some antimicrobial inhibition. Using antioxidants provides appealing solution for consumers seeking clean labels.

Humanity has utilized wood, a renewable resource, for long time.To capitalize on all of the wood's advantages as building, structural, and furnishing material, wood industries academics have continuously sought innovative approaches that lead to better larger usage wood.Microwave (MW) treatment is technology gained increased popularity in modifying properties. It been applied improve drying quality, increase fluid permeability, enhance treatability impregnability specimens. Therefore, this paper aims present summarized state art about MW modification study application energy samples Portuguese Pinus Pinaster, investigating changes water uptake compressive strength parallel grain MW-treated control specimens.Based results, it was identified there an average consumption 1233 MJ/m 3 3038 .In addition, by four times, their reduced 19 % compared samples.

This study describes the valorization of a pine wood by-product (Pinus pinaster) in form individualized fibers to complex copper or more broadly metals present an aqueous solution using batch process. The adsorption results show that fibres activated by sodium carbonate are effective recovering ions from monocontaminated polycontaminated solutions varying concentrations few minutes. One gram material captures 2.5 mg 100 mL at pH 5 less than 10 min. perfectly reproducible and independent between 3 5. presence Na+ cation 0.1 M has no impact on performance, unlike Ca2+ ions, which competes with Cu2+ for active sites. process can be considered as rapid, most is adsorbed within first min exposure. Investigation modeling possibilities shows some limitations. Indeed, Weber Morris Elovich models poor describe all kinetic data fibres. may prove mechanism far simple physisorption, chemisorption and/or diffusion. Complexation extended containing several types metals. this field selective metal recovery could new way valorizing by-products industry.

Biphasic butanol/water treatments have been proposed for the efficient fractionation of Pinus pinaster wood, with objective recovering glucan enriched solid phases, and two liquid streams, one organic aqueous, mainly made up lignin-solubilized products hemicellulosic compounds, respectively. Under selected operating conditions (190ºC, 40% butanol, 1% catalyst, 10 min), high lignin solubilization (77.82%) recovery (86.93%) were achieved an aqueous phase containing 15.8 g/L oligosaccharides was also obtained. Further processing allowed 62.69% initial a purity (close to 94%). Finally, enzymatic digestibility treated evaluated achieving saccharification yield about 95%. Therefore, promising softwood biorefinery scheme based on use hydrophobic green solvent is proposed.

Pinus pinaster forestry occupies >20% of the forest ecosystem area in continental territory Portugal with a high impact on national economy. This species’ major derived non-wood product is oleoresin, raw material for rosin production. Rosin comprises mainly blend resin acids and has broad industrial pharmaceutical applications. Oleoresin production been progressively reduced due to low-cost producers other countries; currently, it reaches only 2% existing P. trees. To support this value chain, chemical fingerprint from requires focused analysis. In present study, we collected oleoresin within seven geographically distinct pure forests two consecutive collection years. A high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) method was used quantify diversity corresponding samples. Overall, acquired data highlighted that profile produced highly regular, regardless location, having as constituents abietic acid dehydroabietic acid. The possibly influenced, minor extent, by some edaphoclimatic factors.
