ABSTRACT Community science, or citizen engages trained volunteers with professional researchers to answer a range of environmental questions. When buttressed strong protocols and robust training, community science can be particularly useful in studying migratory fish by expanding the spatial temporal scale research. The Hudson River Eel Project is program which collect data on juvenile American Anguilla rostrata numbers as enter estuarine tributaries from ocean. has been designed (1) assist fishery agency managers collecting young-of-year glass eel ingress, (2) engage diverse audiences relevant field that leads greater ecological stewardship education. In this article, we describe initial findings 14 years monitoring at six sites along estuary, explore how efforts applied needs agencies, demonstrate impact career development through short testimonials.
