Objective: The present study evaluated the effectiveness of boiler residue and coconut fiber as adsorbent materials for treatment effluents from an industrial hospital laundry. Theoretical Framework: research addresses environmental impacts caused by inadequate disposal laundry effluents, highlighting need accessible efficient technologies their treatment. Adsorption is presented a promising alternative, considering potential residual contaminant removal. Method: was carried out in located São Luís, MA. collected effluent characterized physical-chemical analysis submitted to filtration system containing fibers. were adsorption capacity means FTIR spectroscopy, iodine number scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results Discussion: demonstrated greater efficiency reducing turbidity, reaching removal 96.15% after 60 minutes filtration. Coconut fiber, on other hand, showed lower efficiency, with maximum reduction 44.9% turbidity. Despite than commercial activated carbon, both viability partial use turbidity Research Implications: suggests reuse waste sustainable economically viable alternative liquid promoting circular economy practices. Originality/Value: contributes valorization demonstrating adsorbents processes, adding value discarded materials.

On Earth, the oceans make up 71% of land area. Approximately 40% world's population lives in coastal regions with 3 billion people depending on it for livelihood. 80% global trade is (en)routed via oceans. A long-term unbalanced usage marine routes leads to unsettling issues such as ocean-acidification, pollution and habitat destruction. This causes disruption towards attainment sustainability. To safeguard life, “Blue Economy (BE)” was introduced by UN Conference Sustainable Development (Rio+20) 2012. The SDG-14 (life below water) contributes focusing attention BE. Till date there no universally accepted policy implementation However several like Africa, Brazil, China, EU India formulated guidelines With this perspective, chapter analyzes emerging trends BE a way forward sustainable development.

Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs) are a natural phenomenon produced mainly by the interaction between and anthropogenic events. CyanoHABs characterized production of cyanotoxins that can have effects on different species within food web even affect human health. Among most prevalent toxin groups worldwide microcystins (MCs), anatoxins (ATXs), cylindrospermopsins (CYNs) nodularins (NODs), which as toxins with hepatotoxic, neurotoxic, cytotoxic effects. This review summarizes analyzes research influence cyanoHABs, main toxin-producing cyanobacteria in freshwater marine bodies, highlighting their global occurrence, toxicology, bioaccumulation dynamics vectors web, cases acute chronic intoxications humans. is useful for understanding cyanoHABs’ ecosystem impact health, how implementation surveillance management framework could generate vital information stakeholders to establish health guidelines risks hazards cyanoHABs
