Abstract On a global scale, the urban design of city centers is topic discussion concerning various aspects such development and its impact on public health. This research examines health effects agglomeration in with compact, close development. In this work, potentially toxic metals street dust were studied by collecting measuring samples, trace metal concentrations, using index assessment, spatial analysis, correlation risk assessment models. Eskişehir, located part Central Anatolia to Aegean region, west Türkiye, has been widely recognized as one most popular, known for having many narrow old buildings environments. The present paper investigates atmospheric dust-related chemical speciation, environmental pollution, human risks Eskişehir City studying 66 samples collected at 11 points selected streets August 2023. study found that concentrations elements followed order Cr > Ni Pb Cd Cu. primary source these high levels believed be traffic-related contamination involving Cd, Pb, Ni. non-carcinogenic shown significant sources potential exposure both children adults are i) through ingestion ii) dermal contact. Hazard (HI) decreased Cu without imposing possible (HI<1). contrary, posed cancer above safety threshold (> 10 -4 ) ingestion. Based available findings, still suffers from considerable ecological degradation severe due contamination. However, while pollution was detected center, where there commercial land use, low values observed rich water surface, bicycle paths, landscape design, traffic slowed down.

Abstract Urban street dust (UStD) is a vital issue for human health and crucial urban sustainability. This study aims to enhance the creation of safe, affordable, resilient cities by examining environmental contamination risks in residential areas. Specifically, it investigates concentrations spatial distribution chromium (Cr), cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) UStD Yenimahalle, Ankara. The mean Zn, Cr, Pb, Cd, Ni, Cu were 97.98, 66.88, 55.22, 52.45, 38.37, 3.81 mg/kg, respectively. geoaccumulation pollution index (Igeo) values these elements were: Cd (5.12), Ni (1.61), Cr (1.21), Pb (1.13), (0.78), Zn (0.24). These indices indicate that area moderately polluted with uncontaminated contaminated extremely Cd. hazard (HI) Cu, below non-carcinogenic risk threshold adults, indicating no significant risk. However, children, HI 3.37, 1.80, 1.25, respectively, suggesting higher Carcinogenic (RI) was both children exposure through ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact hazardous. findings highlight need strategic mitigation measures natural anthropogenic activities, providing essential insights residents, policymakers, stakeholders, planners.

Abstract The concrete damages of climate change are intensifying, and adaptation efforts actors around the world increasing, especially in coastal regions. Recommending measures for specific regions sectors determining long-term strategies mitigating global is essential reducing vulnerability to change. This research aims estimate changes climatic parameters thermal comfort zones determine targets offer suggestions affected by possible changes. that will occur until 2100 Antalya basin, which located southernmost part Türkiye a significant hub agricultural production tourism, were monitored spatially using Discomfort Index (DI) Effective Temperature taking wind velocity (ET v ). Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP): SSP 245 585 predict quite cool areas prevailing area, according ET , shrink 24% 46%, respectively, cold areas, DI, 45% 56%, respectively. By 2100, 5% 245, 25%, 585, turn into hot move away from level. fact critical with high vitality terms tourism shows need prioritize policies. These discoveries discussed context issues such as water scarcity food security, contributing policy-making effective management suggesting measures.

Rapid urban growth is a subject of worldwide interest due to environmental problems. Population growth, especially migration from rural areas, leads land use and cover (LULCC) changes in centres. Therefore, LULCC analyses are among the studies that will help decision-makers achieve better sustainable management planning. The objective this study was ascertain impact urbanization, which resulted migration, on alterations LULCC, with particular focus forest areas surrounding Bartın city centre between 2000 2020. Spatial databases for two periods were used determine growth. spatial temporal patterns quantified by interpreting data. Remote sensing (RS) geographical information systems (GIS) have been data collection, analysis, presentation. assessed under nine classes using optical remote methods stand-type maps created aerial photos. In this study, the contamination, ecological and human health risks as well source apportionment of As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn, V in street dusts different land-uses Kermanshah, Iran were investigated. A total 192 dust samples taken from 16 sites analyzed for their elemental contents using ICP-OES. The computed mean values geo-accumulation index (I-geo) pollution (PI) ranged − 6.07 to 2.67 0.023 9.58, respectively, indicating 'unpolluted' 'moderately heavily polluted', 'slight very high polluted' levels, respectively. load (PLI) with a cumulative value 1.03 reflected moderate levels across entire study area. Moreover, risk (RI) 135 indicated throughout region. hazard (HI) potentially toxic elements (PTEs) both adults children all within safe limit (< 1). Furthermore, carcinogenic (TCR) showed that associated Ni target populations at tolerable unacceptable levels. positive matrix factorization (PMF) model identified traffic emissions sources, fossil fuel combustion natural industrial major sources tested elements. Hence, thorough investigation into contamination is recommended future studies.

In this study, the capacity of aquatic liverwort Ricciocarpus natans L. and terrestrial moss Entodon serrulatus Mitt. as biomonitors heavy metals associated with particulate matter from a highly polluted urban area was evaluated, concentrations in tissues were correlated PM10 PM2.5 present atmosphere. The two species exposed by bag technique to pollution Toluca Valley Metropolitan Area (TVMA) for periods 6 months, using sites Automatic Atmospheric Monitoring Network Government State Mexico, subsequently analyzed elemental structural characterization techniques. results show that mainly functional groups -OH -NH, N-H C-O on surface participate adsorption elements. average enrichment factors Cd Pb be enriched (> 10) study while chromium is not (< 2). statistical indicate temporary variation concentration particles atmosphere, where there lower these pollutants rainy dry-cold season higher dry-hot possible association Cr PM2.5. addition, except Cr, both accumulate airborne at equivalent levels. There strong between Cr-Pb-Fe R. PM2.5-PM10 Fe Cd-Cr-Pb E. are sampling highest TVMA.
