Abstract Water is used for cooling in the power generation processes of a plant to regulate temperature equipment, circulating, it can accumulate main ions (HCO3, CO32−, SO42−,CI, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+) water. The article investigates factors that influence parameters content recycling water and conducts an environmental assessment discharge, identifying correlation dependencies allow predicting after aqueous discharge wastewater. purpose this investigate formation trends composition major technological cycle plant's circulating system surface river area influence. Moreover, paper, grey footprint studied as tool implementing combined approach use assessment. research was conducted using process from operating nuclear Styr River (Ukraine). Furthermore, work related solving tasks assessing non-radiological impact plant. In particular, concentration monitored by certified measuring laboratory. novelty our study lies application statistical regression analysis assess with return on natural waters river.

The main problem in the operation of nuclear power plants (NPPs) is scale formation mineral impurities an open recirculating system (ORS). discharge water from ORS into natural bodies can alter chemical equilibrium wastewater components, necessitating continuous monitoring. purpose this study was to analyse behaviour dissolved inorganic salts (DIS) within during treatment, using Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) as a case study. Moreover, analysis impact their with return Styr River. DIS concentration has significant on efficiency and environmental plant. Altogether, each components analysed separately standard measurement methods, statistical methods data processing correlation analysis. In addition, annual calculated, amount assessed for compliance maximum limit. Thus, variations levels upon body were examined.

This study examines the environmental impact of a nuclear power plant's (NPP) open-cycle cooling systems (CCSs), focusing on Rivne NPP in Ukraine. Regulatory standards from Water Code Ukraine and EU's Framework Directive guide analysis. Over four years (2019–2022), water quality indicators were monitored. Results show compliance with regulatory for makeup water, pH levels within range 6.5–8.5. Total dissolved solids (TDS) remained below 500 mg/dm3, while total hardness (TH) did not exceed 200 mg/dm3 as CaCO3. Salinity components, including Cl−, SO42−, Na+, K+, acceptable limits. Biogenic compounds, such PO43− N-NH3, occasionally exceeded maximum permissible concentrations receiving Styr River. Chemical oxygen demand consistently 30 mg/dm3. Pearson's correlation coefficient principal component analysis revealed strong relationships between indicators. TH SO42− identified dominant components CCS discharge, remaining prescribed discharge Overall, this indicates that there is no negative non-radiological polluting chemicals effluent surface waters

Abstract The principal function of an open recirculating system (ORS) is to remove heat from power plant equipment. In particular, the presence scale on internal surfaces ORS exchange equipment can reduce transfer efficiency, which leads increased energy consumption and operating costs. purpose this article investigate process calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) precipitation formation in terms components parameters affecting shift equilibrium ORS. An appraisal model was used represent processes occurring during operation study, it demonstrated that water heating condensers excretion carbon dioxide (CO 2 water, while cooling towers results CO uptake by water. These significantly influence state within study chemical control make-up at Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) for 2022. Furthermore, dependencies changes pH levels (pH 7.51–9.52) 8.21–9.53) were revealed, cycles concentration (CоC), total hardness (TH), dissolved solids (TSD), alkalinity (TA) estimated. Taking into account obtained correlation dependencies, general, found lower CoC levels, TA reduction value, possible increase or decrease determined initial findings enable prediction CaCO through continuous monitoring chemistry, making more efficient, reliable, sustainable. emphasize importance data-driven modeling optimizing treatment reducing operational costs plants formation.
