To assess the metals (Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, Cd, Hg and Pb) pollution risks their transportation in sediment overlay water from typical reservoirs rapidly developing economic region of southeastern China, this study integrated an intact core incubation vertical distribution analysis a drinking reservoir (Drinking-Y) irrigation (Irrigation-T). The results revealed that both studied were severely polluted by heavy metals. Irrigation-T was at considerable risk compared to Drinking-Y (a moderate or slightly risk) reflecting higher concentration versus Drinking-Y. Concentrations Cd overlying exceeded World Health Organization (WHO) standard, contributing approximately 90% total potential ecological index (RI) for sediment. Most continue increase inputs into can settle 10–15 days static incubation. main anthropogenic sources originated fuel combinations industry mills (6.4%) agricultural activities (38%) (4.9%), (32.9%) mines quarries (62.1%) Irrigation-T. reduce human health risks, therefore, freshwater should be stored prior irrigation. Elevated methylmercury (MeHg) production in mining-contaminated paddy soils, despite the high fraction of refractory HgS(s), has been frequently reported, while underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we hypothesized that sulfate input, via fertilization, rainfall, and irrigation, is critical mobilizing HgS(s) thus enhancing Hg methylation soils. To test this hypothesis, effects amendment on MeHg bioaccumulation soil-rice systems were examined. Sediment pollution from potentially hazardous elements (PHE) generated by human activity has grown into a worldwide problem. In this regard, for the first time, surface sediment samples were obtained six points along Shahid Rajaee Reservoir investigation. Elements concentrations (Cu, Cr, Co, Mn, Fe, Pb, Ni, and Zn) assessed using ICP-MS. Based on individual indices (geoaccumulation index, contamination factor), all at sample sites found to be low in contamination, except Pb Zn (at 1 2). The combined effect of PHEs did not show considerable concern, according synergistic indices. health risk assessment revealed that recreational receptors unlikely face non-carcinogenic or carcinogenic hazards as consequence exposure sediments with unintentional ingesting contact skin. Tessier technique demonstrated mostly connected oxidizable fraction. According statistical study, while Cu, Mn lithogenic sources, came natural well human-made sources.
