Solar irradiation in aquatic systems can induce the conversion of substances from solid to dissolved phase (photodissolution). Yet, photochemical release organic nitrogen (DON) internal particles lakes remains largely unknown. In this study, suspensions algal detritus and sediment a shallow eutrophic lake were exposed simulated solar irradiation, compositional changes matter explored by measuring their UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy ultrahigh resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). The inorganic during incubations was also investigated. Results showed that light induced stronger carbon DON production suspensions, with rates 1.17 mg C L−1 h−1 0.14 N h−1, respectively, at an concentration 0.1 dry g L−1. Light both suspensions. A larger number molecules lower molecular weight continuously released e.g., total formulas increased 1349 4135 8 h irradiation. contrast, upon decreased diversity aromaticity. ammonium (photoammonification) higher rate 0.015 which may contribute eutrophication lake. This study provides new insights into typical lakes.

In this work, the distribution of organic phosphorus (Po) species in sediment profiles five shallow lakes was analyzed and its effect on photo-release dissolved phosphate (Pi) investigated during resuspension under simulated sunlight irradiation. The results show that Po highly enriched surface gradually decreased as depths increased: 33.10 ± 2.55-96.71 7.60 mg/kg, 33.55 2.34-142.86 5.73 57.50 3.46-149.68 7.67 55.18 4.67-168.73 8.31 98.75 7.56-275.74 10.70 mg/kg for Lake Hou, Tuan, Tangling, Guozheng Miao, respectively. amount Pi composed sediments also higher than deep irradiation 9 h. potential reasons these are: (1) difference morphology composition at different depths: mean particle size first then increased increased; (2) with profiles: more photolytic existed confirmed by sequential extraction 31P NMR analysis; (3) OH production irradiation, which directly influence from photodegradation phosphorus. All indicate plays an important role P cycle may be one pathways supplement lakes.
