This paper reviews a Sensor-Based Demand-Controlled Ventilation (SBDCV) system which seeks to provide fresh air for breathing and dilute exhaust pollutants odours. Indoor air pollution (IAP) is a serious threat to human health, causing millions of deaths each year. Abstract Metal oxide resistive gas sensors suffer from poor selectivity that restricts their practical applicability. Conventional sensor arrays are used to improve which increased the system complexity. Here, we have proposed a novel NiO/ZnO-based p–n junction single-diode device for selective sensing of several volatile organic compounds (VOCs) simultaneously by tuning bias voltage. The operating voltage was varied between 3 and 5 volts achieve 2-propanol (19.1 times 95 ppm with response recovery 70 s 55 respectively‚ at volts), toluene (20.1 100 60 respectively, 4 formaldehyde (11.2 88 54 volts). Much of the global population spends most their time indoors; however, air pollution measurement, a proxy exposure, occurs primarily outdoors. This fundamental disconnect between where people are and measurements made likely leads to misestimation true burden on human health, which is already substantial, with exposure leading approximately 6.7 million deaths yearly. In this review, we describe two disparate but linked fields commonly referred as indoor household pollution.
