In the upcoming period, city squares’ urban redesign will be crucial in achieving sustainable development goals. This study presents a systematic review of OTC-related studies for design squares using PRISMA 2020 methodology. A included total 173 papers from 2001 to 2023. The results identified five types—clusters based on four pre-defined criteria: approach, data collection methods, time duration, and primary objectives. clusters indicate that more than half all are related comparison thermal comfort heat mitigation measures. Most case were located one three climate zones: temperate oceanic (Cfb) (58 studies), hot summer Mediterranean (Csa) (40 or humid subtropical (Cfa) (28 studies). most common geometry analyzed square is medium-sized, rectangular, has dominant axel orientation south–north. Also, clusters, several research gaps identified, appropriate future research: majority traditionally considered areas, no typology configuration OTC assessment, lack local model assessing improving squares.

Tourism is being impacted by climate change all around the world. now seen as one of economic sectors least equipped for risks and opportunities provided change, it just establishing capacity to advance knowledge required teach businesses, communities, governments about concerns potential solutions. As a small coastal island, Prince Edward Island (PEI) on Canada’s Atlantic coast highly vulnerable extremes, including erosion, sea-level rise, flooding. The island’s tourism industry generates substantial revenue businesses government, yet extremes that impact beach sea-faring attractions. Limited research has been reported this topic, most information island how sustainable achievable out date. Here, we present evidence climate-related impacts vulnerabilities in within PEI highlight existing future adaptation strategies support sustainability sector. Key gaps are highlighted, recommendations proposed facilitate resilience Island’s

The excessive use of energy in buildings due to increased populations and economic development leads more greenhouse gas emissions, which affect climate change global warming. Changes prevailing outdoor weather conditions significantly the systems through cooling decreased heating. In this paper, 30 years data dry wet bulb temperatures (1990–2020) with a time interval 3 h were considered order estimate climatic design cities Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio state Texas. results suggest that temperature (DBT) had higher increases Worth (2.37 °C) than (WBT) Houston (4.1 during study period. Furthermore, analyzed effects on degree hours (CDH) heating (HDH) most significant drop HDH maximum CDH fluctuation as compared other two cities. effect performance is also investigated via direct evaporative coolers (DECs) direct-indirect (IDEC), do not perform well selected contrast, absorption system (Abs) vapor compression (VC) show an increase number additional loads. second part related future projection using ARIMA model, suggests DBT would rise (from 37.18 °C 37.56 (39.1 39.57 while diminishing 34.81 33.95 from 2020 2030. WBT will experience upward trend 36.06 37.71 31.32 31.38 downward 32.43 31.97 2020–2030. Additionally, prediction Abs VC performed, reveals amount load required 2030 prominent Houston. Thermal indices and thermal comfort maps have great importance in developing health-minded climate action strategies livable urban layouts. Especially cities where vulnerability to heatwaves is high, it necessary detect the most appropriate indicators for regional characteristics planning with respect comfort. The aim of study examine as by relating meteorological parameters spatial features. Atmospheric variables including air temperature, wind speed, cloud cover, relative humidity data were obtained from 30 stations located districts having different climatic Heat stress levels apparent temperature (AT), heat index (HI), wet bulb globe (WBGT), physiological equivalent (PET), universal (UTCI), perceived (PT) calculated associated parameters. been created daily mean maximum values all indices. Green urban squares are essential in densely built neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life. Investment the greening areas will have a beneficial impact, particularly regarding human thermal comfort. Smaller than parks, can be easily spread over cities should part any neighborhood. While cooling effect green during hot summer days is increasingly well established, microclimatic assessments all seasons still missing. This study aimed to determine whether it possible identify an optimal greenery design that maximizes comfort, as indexed by physiological equivalent temperature (PET), temperate climates across seasons. employed “research design” methodology, utilizing micrometeorological simulation model ENVI-met analyze impact on PET improvement different The objective was most effective combination for improvement. To achieve these objectives, two Munich, Germany were selected. selection based assumption typical practices, exemplified presence trees, shrubs, grass, would significantly effects small square with grass surface underneath Alpenplatz, highly influenced surrounding buildings, affecting sky view factor (SVF), crucial aspect environment. Marstallplatz, open, large not affected morphology, analyzed through scenarios combining trees. results demonstrate primary concern climate-sensitive order avoid health risks thus need prioritized without compromising comfort cold days. attend both needs, increasing number deciduous trees shading day amount air at night effective. Nevertheless, microclimate spring autumn periods must also considered, provision adaptable opportunities sheltered sun-exposed spaces.
