Abstract Context: Rapid urbanization has affected ecosystem stability, which can be effectively mitigated by building an Ecological Security Pattern (ESP). Previous research mainly focused on ESP identification in a single year, ignoring the change of various landscape elements time scale. Objectives: We sought to improve solution. aimed construct and optimize ESPs different years, analyze their variations over time, provide references for ecological security protection. Methods: developed framework 2000, 2010, 2020 study Wuhan Metropolitan Area (WMA) ESP. The were established circuit theory optimized Centrality Mapper gravity model. Results: findings indicated that area's key exhibited clear spatial aggregation, they mostly located east south gradually expanded north previous 20 years. From 2000 2020, there was first decrease then increase source corridor numbers. This also reflected pinch points barriers. eventually obtained three periods, among includes 9 primary, 21 secondary, 48 tertiary sources, 141 37 secondary corridors, with 170.46 km2 barriers 197.42 points. Conclusion: extends scale construction, providing theoretical basis reference regional sustainable development pattern optimization process urbanization.

The National Ecological Barrier Zones are an important part of China's ecological security strategy. construction a scientific and reasonable pattern (ESP) is for the healthy development national barrier zones. existing literature does not consider impact potential changes in ecosystem health land use on ESP construction. In this study, we considered typical composite area, Sichuan-Yunnan barrier, to analyze such areas; probability future growth change, circuit theory, service trade-off synergy, construct sustainable ESP. Spatial heterogeneity was observed level barrier; high-value areas were mostly distributed central southern parts study but low-value northeastern western regions. contained 246 sources (distributed forest grassland contiguous south, central, northeast regions), 563 corridors that portrayed obvious differences spatial distribution, 123 pinchpoints, 231 barriers, topographic gradient characteristics. Based data, proposed relevant policy opinions zoning control. results show incorporating trade-offs services into assessments can lead more effective selection sources. Ecological network construction and optimization is an effective way to balance the contradiction between regional development ecological protection in process of urbanization. Rapid urbanization in the Jiangnan Water Network region has resulted degradation of ecosystems and interruption ecological functions. The security pattern (ESP) is crucial for balancing economic development protection within an area. In this study, we focused on a representative Gaochun water network area devised comprehensive ESP methodology. This study combined importance ecosystem services (ESI), landscape connectivity (Con), sensitivity (ESS), starting with analysis sources. Furthermore, both natural human factors are emphasized when constructing resilience surface. Nighttime lighting data (NTL), risk index (ERI), land intensity factor (CI) were used to calibrate resistance values. Finally, circuit theory was applied determine optimal path, width, strategy points corridors. results indicate We identified 39 source areas, 74 corridors, 33 pinch points, 45 barriers. Based this, overall spatial optimization plan “five cores, three patches, belts, multiple points” obtained. aimed explore optimize approach regional characteristics, providing new pathways decision support future construction patterns region.

The trade-off of ecosystem services should be considered in ecological security pattern (ESP) construction, which can reflected landscape multifunctionality and comprehensive importance. Multi-intensity ESPs management is also required to achieve effective planning. In this study, we proposed an approach multi-intensity construction that integrated multifunctional identification multi-criteria decision-making into source identification, categorized sources based on the "trend-status-risk" framework, with a case study city belt along Yellow River Ningxia. results showed optimal weights four habitat maintenance, water conservation, carbon sequestration soil retention decision making were 0.5000, 0.2071, 0.1589 0.1340, respectively. degree was 0.6612, overall conservation efficiency 1.5212. Conservation priority areas had overlapping area 2189.38 km2, accounting for 84.86% identified through multifunctionality. ESP included 45 covering total 6067.14 km2 91 corridors 3331.62 km2. aiming at prevention, restoration reconstruction established corresponding suggestions. constructing has application potential planning ecologically vulnerable regions, facilitating differentiated management.

As a crucial component of the ecological security pattern, source (ES) plays vital role in providing ecosystem service value (ESV) and conserving biodiversity. Previous studies have mostly considered ES only from either landscape change pattern or function perspectives, ignored their integration spatio-temporal evolutionary modeling. In this study, we proposed multi-perspective framework for characteristics by ESV incorporating aesthetics, carbon sink characteristics, quality, kernel NDVI (kNDVI). By integrating revised normalized difference vegetation index as foundation, employed spatial priority model to identify ES. This improvement aims yield more practical specific result. Applying Three-River Headwaters Region (TRHR), significant sources has been observed 2000 2020. performance provided reference conservation TRHR. The results indicate that identification reliable accuracy efficiency compared with existing NRs method could reveal precise distributions ES, enhancing integrity technical modeling support developing cross-scale planning management strategies nature reserve boundaries. our research serve building networks other ecologically fragile areas.

This study focuses on constructing a heritage corridor for traditional villages in the Taihu Lake region, aiming to promote cultural preservation and sustainable development of these through innovative pathway design. Based spatial distribution characteristics across five cities surrounding (Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Huzhou, Jiaxing) existing transportation network, this research integrates Circuit Effective Conductance (CEC) theory with ArcGIS analysis methods optimize pathways corridor. The results show that expected nearest neighbor distance 307 region is 5245.61 m, actual being 3385.60 z-score −11.85, index 0.645786, indicating exhibit clustered distribution. Combined kernel density results, “dual-core–four zones–multiple scatter points” structure revealed, Dongshan Island Wujiang District serving as primary secondary cores, respectively. By establishing “dual-ring corridor” stable village transmission has been formed, consisting 137 corridors. Meanwhile, CEC model demonstrates high adaptability generating circular corridors, particularly creating closed-loop structures around lake, thereby enhancing connectivity corridors facilitating effective flow resources. Through strategic design outer inner ring successfully links develops optimal travel routes. provides practical solutions protection, revitalization, integration tourism offers new perspective lakefront geographies China.

Abstract Primates, 69% of which are threatened with extinction, the third most specious order mammals. We used primates as model taxa to examine umbrella effects on ecosystem services and protection other vertebrates seed plants in Yunnan Province, China. identified areas conservation priority for 16 primate species determined endemic terrestrial would be protected through a program targeting conservation. Areas high richness were spatially correlated distribution 601 4010 plants. Primate was positively carbon sequestration enhanced water soil coincided future climate refugia. If 30% Yunnan's naturally forested regions designated areas, then 52.3% province's average annual sequestration, 51.7% its resources, 54.1% 30–33% climate‐stable protected. Protecting uniquely contributes maintaining biodiversity that promote stability. Although we focused single mammalian region, our approach evaluation has broad applicability can help achieve multiple targets Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The ecological sustainability of arid and semi-arid areas is under increasing threat due to global climate change, well-established networks are essential for improving landscape connectivity conserving biodiversity. This study takes the Tacheng-Emin Basin in China as an example. Based on "source-resistance-corridor" research paradigm sustainable development theory, "contribution-organization-vitality-resilience" circuit theory ecosystem incorporated into construction networks. results show that (1) service value basin 5.85 × 1010 Yuan, medium health level, security hierarchy has low level uncoordinated problems. (2) total integrated resistance surface dominated by natural resistance, characterized evident fragmentation. (3) 25 sources, 58 corridors, 32 stepping stones, 39 obstacle points, 46 fracture points were extracted at threshold 10,000 model. (4) reconstruction cost network 1,007.41 104 reconstructed have increased 2 1 stone, reduced 3 while closure structure been significantly improved developed toward a stable multi-grid structure. (5) zoning protection restoration scheme "one ring, one belt, sink, multiple zones, corridors" conducive basin. this can serve reference management regions Central Asia.
