Today, plastic pollution is a widespread problem in all ecosystems and has particularly severe impact on marine external fertilisers such as the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis. The present study aims to assess toxicological reproductive health effects this organism following exposure two concentrations of polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) (0.5 1 μg/L), representative conditions Mediterranean Sea. After exposure, electrophoretic pattern protamine-like (PL) proteins, major basic protein component galloprovincialis sperm chromatin, was analysed. Compared unexposed condition, differences were observed by SDS-PAGE an increased ability PL bind protect DNA from oxidative damage then measured, for mussels exposed μg/L PS-MPs. At dose PS-MPs, reduced release PLs nuclei also observed, whereas digestion micrococcal nuclease did not show any significant between conditions. Finally, possibility poly(ADP)-ribosylation investigated. PL-II showed increase after PS-MPs which may account difference DNA. In conclusion, while results might suggest molecular mechanism gametic plasticity occurring upon μg/L, they indicate that could be extremely detrimental because it prevent nuclear proteins at fertilisation.

Water is the founding fundamental of life and hence a basic need life. However, due to ever-rising population, industrialization has emerged as global issue. This problem notably escalated in developing countries. Their citizens face problems such floods, drought, poor water quality. Due quality sanitation problems, most health issues are caused by water-borne infections. In countries, untreated wastewater released into bodies or ground, thereby polluting natural resources. lack sufficient infrastructure, planning, funding, technologies overcome these problems. Additionally, urbanization megacities countries highly accelerated, but it disproportionate required resources for treating wastewater. this biological oxygen demand (BOD): chemical (COD) ratio increasing exponentially compared developed ones. Spreading awareness, education supporting relevant research, making stringent rules industries can alone solve

Rapid economic development has led to an alarming increase in soil pollution by potentially toxic elements (PTEs), significantly reducing productivity and posing long-term threats sustainable agriculture human well-being. Over the past two decades, it been observed that PTEs severely impacted biodiversity, with damage rates of 94.7 % plants, 77.4 humans, 68.4 animals. In response, various remediation technologies have developed, considering factors such as practical applicability, treatment duration, ecological safety. Microbial shown a removal efficiency ranging from 32.0 95.2 %, while multi-technology combined approaches demonstrated broader efficacy, 18.7 381 %. However, selection suitable technology must also consider cost ensure efficient contaminant removal. This review provides comprehensive overview local international status, sources, hazards associated PTEs, well environmental influencing their migration. It examines detoxification mechanisms plants microbial evaluates strengths weaknesses physical, chemical, biological, methods. Furthermore, underscores requirements opportunities for developing effective techniques. The insights presented here are crucial agronomists strategies interdisciplinary research into integrated emission sources pathogenesis, thereby enhancing efforts safeguard Earth's environment.

Water pollution is a major global challenge due to the fast expansion of industrial activities and increasing human population. Certain heavy metals can be exceedingly hazardous contribute significantly water contamination. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) were synthesized using cyanobacteria extract remove (Cd Pb) from wastewater. To characterize IONPs, several analytical techniques employed such as Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy revealed an SPR (surface plasmon resonance) peak at 348 nm, FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectral analysis show OH, C-H S=O functional groups which confirmed biomolecules responsible for biogenic synthesis stability. The surface morphology IONPs was investigated (SEM) scanning electron reveled their nearly spherical or cubic shape. Additionally, XRD (X-ray diffraction) crystallinity with crystalline size measuring 18.21 nm. Effects contact time, pH, initial metal ions concentrations, dosage studied on adsorption Cd Pb ions. Different kinetics isotherm models applied experimental data. Pseudo second-order kinetic Langmuir well fitted onto IONPs. Higher correlation coefficients (R2) values (R2: 0.990 adsorption) 0.998 0.999 adsorption, respectively) found, indicated favorable interaction between adsorbent. calculated maximal capacities 105.932 118.764 mg/g Pb, respectively. Recyclability conducted after five adsorption/desorption cycles, retained efficiency negligible decline. After removal up 80.41 88.35 % Results study indicate that cyanobacteria-mediated efficient adsorbent contaminated aqueous solution.

Heavy metals (HMs) in sediment samples (Dry and Rainy seasons) of industrially affected rivers were quantified by Energy Disperse X-ray Fluorescence the Shitalakshya river Bangladesh. This study assesses potential health concerns provided various HMs manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), arsenic (As), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr). Mean concentration ranked as Mn > Zn Cu Cr Ni Pb As Cd for both seasons, where almost all elements found within standard limit, except As. In dry season, concentrations slightly higher than rainy which can be attributed to fact that pollutants may diluted rainwater, thus lowering value. Enrichment factor, geo-accumulation index, contamination pollution load index indicated a high level moderate levels ecological risk. The hazard was < 1 adults children revealing no possible non-carcinogenic Hazard Quotient individual exposure path ingestion dermal inhalation regardless age group. Carcinogenic risk via entire three ascertained safe seasons. However, total carcinogenic value low medium while it is limit adults. Multivariate statistical analysis sources anthropogenic primarily due untreated wastes discharge from metal waste dumping sites, oil refinery industries, glass ceramic industries close sampling sites river.
