There is increasing demand for low-carbon remediation strategies reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development in the management of environmental contamination. This trend within broader context that balance environmental, economic, social aspects. article critically reviewed existing literature to evaluate compare various methods, such as bioremediation, phytoremediation, situ chemical oxidation, soil vapour extraction, electrokinetic remediation, identify suitable techniques oil-contaminated sites Niger Delta region Nigeria. We analysed UK frameworks (SuRF-UK) glean lessons Nigerian context. Our findings indicate bioremediation phytoremediation are particularly promising technologies due their cost-effectiveness adaptability local conditions. proposed a framework deeply considers opportunities achieving multiple goals including effective limited while returning net economic benefit communities. The will help decision makers implement meet sustainability indices, integrates considerations return need policymakers establish enforce policies regulations support practises, build capacity stakeholders, invest research development, promote collaboration among stakeholders create regulatory environment supports practises promotes region. study provides insights regions addressing land contamination by different contaminants facilitates adoption consider contextual socio-economic indices development.

As industrialization increases to meet global need for social and economic development, clean soil water are increasingly becoming scarce resources due contaminations caused by industrial activities. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) ubiquitous in the environment, however, they predominant natural resource-dependent economies where burning of fossil fuels exploration activities drive their release into environmental media daily. This study reviewed a comparative analysis PAH contamination Ghana Nigeria using published literature. Although evidence indicates limited studies Ghana, abundance research does not translate efficient effective control management measures. These measures crucial addressing exposure public health receptors high concentrations PAHs mitigating harmful effects, such as cancer suppression immune system. In addition, considering that elevated has been linked increased risk non-communicable diseases (NCDs), presence can promote growth bacteria other microorganisms, which increase communicable (CDs), therefore exacerbates disease burden thus significantly slows epidemiologic transition both countries. Given contextual similarities, this article articulates conceptual framework based on principles enhance prevention remediation The would serve an exemplar regions with similar contexts challenges.

Arable land is shrinking, and the ecological strain on such growing daily. To ensure its sustainability, uncovering dynamic changes driving forces crucial. We assessed arable footprint (CEF) in Yellow Huaihai main grain-producing areas from 2010 to 2020, employing productive analyses. Additionally, we built a structural equation model for per capita CEF area, incorporating China's economic theory economic-social-ecological system identify influencing factors. Our findings indicate following: (1) area showed fluctuating upward trend during 2010–2020, while carrying capacity of decreased, resulting surplus, except 2017; (2) land's sustainable pressure index increased, signifying low safety grain producing efficiency indicating resource improvements; (3) reveals that output, conditions, socioeconomics, inputs all impact footprints respective order. results offer valuable insights securing national food sustainability preserving land.

Abstract Background Artisanal petroleum refining operations have been known to produce a significant volume of air pollutants. The highest concentration pollutants is generated during the oven heating or crude boiling phase operation. major pollutant black carbon soot. Although these are widespread, especially in developing countries, impact exposure emissions from artisanal refinery on both respiratory and reproductive health remains poorly understood. Objective This study aimed examine effects controlled subacute soot process, systems male albino Wistar rats. Methods To simulate conditions found refineries, we developed replicable fabrication an combustion system fitted with chamber for vivo studies. 6–8 weeks old adolescent rats were divided into four groups (A, B, C, & D), group A acting as general control was not exposed any particulate matter. Group D subacutely hours each day 3, 7, 14, 21, 28 days varying emission concentrations. Daily measurements determined using Aeroqual Series 300 Gas Monitor, average matter (PM 2.5 ), given as: (1.221 ± 0.169 mg/m 3 , 1.290 0.214 1.282 0.235 ). Animals euthanised Day 28, respectively. Tissue samples lungs testis collected immunohistochemistry oxidative stress analysis. Discussion /Conclusion : Cytoarchitecture via histology immunohistochemistry, showed inflammatory cell infiltration, thickened alveolar walls, diminished spaces, hyperaemia, bronchial epithelial hyperplasia animals that While cytoarchitecture revealed distortion Leydig cells, vacuolations mild within spermatid layer, loss flagella, some seminiferous tubule lumen. Notable increase mean expression P -values by one-way analysis variance (ANOVA), followed Tukey’s post hoc test, observed 14–28 ( < 0.05) tumour-necrosis-factor alpha (TNF-α), 21–28 0.001) malondialdehyde (MDA), 21 superoxide dismutase (SOD) experimental (B, D) when compared A. Our provides valuable insights risks associated matter, thus underscoring urgent need necessary measures curb pollution result activities.
